Well I also read somewhere that there's the option he was related to Andrew Ryan and then getting to use Vita Chambers, and could explain his complicated relationship with Ryan aswell, could that be a option?

If the 'Irony' trophy counts as canon, then I'm not sure if he'll be back. If not, then I don't mind. Cohen was a fairly interesting character.
I sure hope he's not back as a living, walking-around character, because I already killed him.
I can totally see him making an appearance in a few audio diaries though. Or even a video diary perhaps (I speculated that the game might have some of those in place of the ghost sequences, because the ghost sequences were stupid).

i'd love to see him back in bioshock 2, he was probably my favorite character in the first game.
plus, his poem, the wild bunny, is perfectly useful to quote in bizzare situations: "i want to take the ears off, but i can't."
EDIT: but it would be hard to deal with the fact that he may be dead... well, he can at least be in the audio logs.

I killed him in his apartment
then went to Fort Frolic and lit his "masterpiece" on fire
then he somehow reappeared so I killed him again...wouldn't be suprised if I had to do it a 3rd time...

Who's to say you killed the real Cohen in the first game, for all you know, he could have forced someone to do battle dressed exactly like him.
But I think he's dead. Deader than dead. Like in millions of frosty pieces dead. Pieces that were then used to kill other Splicers across Rapture dead.
