I only have Sands of Time and the new one. Sands of Time was an utter masterpiece that was allowed to be shown to my 7 year old eyes, while the new PoP was a crying shame.

Warrior Within had by far better gameplay than bot SoT and T2T. Unfortunately they've added way to much emo to the equation, which screwed up the atmosphere.

TL;DR: WW is the best of the series if you ignore the emo-ness.
cut him some slack, he killed his own dad and saw his girl die a horrorble death.
sure he reversed time, but he remembers every single part of it...

not going emo. that would be fucked up.

I liked Warrior Within especially the Dahaka parts. The reason i didn't like it was the character of the prince he turned from a Arrogant snobby douche to an overly emo twat. The level desinging was a bit annoying..i.e changing the way the traps will kill you by changing the time period. Other than those factors number was good.
He wasn't even that emo! This is the thing that annoys me. If a boat full of your men just got slaughtered and you then discovered you were being hunted by something that's sole objective was killing you, you wouldn't be a little pissed?

My favourite was definitely WW. I loved all of them, except the crappy cell-shaded one. 1v1 combat just isn't right. My only issue with Warrior Within was the horrendous amount of back-tracking from the two towers. Aside from that, it was an all-round good game. The prince was a lot more mature. Though, this is a bit of a hypocritical view as I loved the Prince's sarcastic witticisms from the 1st and 3rd games.

Also this. Thank you for elaborating as to why he was how he was. I'm a bit shocked that he wasn't screaming in angst after watching his entre kingdom burn.

I wish people would just shut up about the Prince in Warrior Within being emo... There is only one single moment in that game where he gives up hope and sits down wating to die, and that is when he finds out
that he created the Sands of Time, thereby becoming the very person to blame for everything that happened in the first game

Otherwise, he is not emo at all! Sure, he's angry and bitchy, but I think he's got the right to be since he's been hunted by the Dahaka for god knows how long before the game took place, probably not being able to rest properly during all that time.

I like Two Thrones the best. it's short, sweet and not that difficult save for a few moment. (Difficult as in: faulty battle system or tedious puzzles.)

I loved warrior within but not as much as two thrones. Ive thought about going back and trying the first one but i find it really hard to do that when you've played the sequel. And as for the first one I really didnt like it at all, good thing theyre going back to the original story.

I really don't see the emo-factor in WW, except for maybe the prince's haircut. But everything else I just classify as 'dark'. The music (Godsmack if I remember correctly) is far from the new emo culture, the art style and story as well.
The might have been people before Yahtzee who said they liked the light tone of the predecessor better, but it was him who hammered the equation "WW = emo" into people's heads. It's seriously annyoing.

Anyways, Two Thrones was my favourite. Both Gameplay- and Storywise, and the dialogues between the dark prince and the normal prince were absolute greatness. In fact, I feel like putting away my brand new PS3 right now and restart Two Thrones :D

I have to say Sands of Time, it was really fun. The new PoP game that came a while ago wasn't that bad either, just a bit repetitive in the long run.

I like the Two Thrones the most, although Sands of Time is a close second. It incorporates better platforming compared to Warrior Within and takes from Warrior Within a combat system lacking from Sands of Time. I didn't enjoy Warrior Within as much because traversing the Island of Time wasn't exactly easy. It wasn't always very clear to know where to go, some of the areas were pretty convoluted, required tons of backtracking, and a game that I need a game guide to guide me through, just isn't fun. That's not to say it was horrible or anything and I still play it from time to time (the Prince of Persia games are probably the games I've replayed most out of my library).

I loved Sands of Time, but into the series because my friends would play Warrior within and that's why I saw that looked fun. So I agree, the combat is repetitive, like a lot, but the game itself is still fantastic. The story was great in SoT, and WW continued the awesome story. The thing is I don't care if he went emo, I enjoyed the combat a lot in WW, and again, it was these images that got me into the PoP series, so I like it best, but I must say, SoT is a great game, and I can see where people like it more because it's what sold the series to them, playing SoT after WW feels like a step backwards, because WW made improvements that helped the Two thrones sell.

Warrior Within for me all the way. Gameplay-wise it's SoT but much better (combat, freerunning, you name it - you got it) and I liked the story more than in SoT.

Emo? Where? WW is a story of giant determination to overcome fate. Where's emo in there? Ok, there is one moment of breakdown for Prince, when he abandons all hope after realizing what he done halfway through the game, but then he finds another way to trick the fate, and here we go again. He's pissed off and determined, not emo. His personality suits the story. I cannot really picture the SoT naive, snotty Prince in this kind of plot. He just wouldn't fit.

I never really cared for SoT story. It was nice, but nothing brilliant. I played it more for the great gameplay rather than heroes and story. With WW story and (even better) gameplay came hand in hand, and WW is still a game I like to play from time to time, and it's still not boring.

Also, I like that music in WW, which is bashed so hard around here. Godsmack is awesome.

gameplay > style, so WW wins.
completely agree. I go into different games expecting different things, and for the PoP games, it was the gameplay that I craved. WW had the best in my opinion. Superior to sands of time, none of that split personality crap with Two thrones, and the new one? Do I even need to explain how terribly generic and crap that was?
