Y'know we're saving the world all the time in games and in movies, but I have to wonder, if I had the power, would I be the guy trying to change the world, having the 'heroes' trying to stop me?

How about this then?

You've been given a key to a magical machine. Only you can use it.

If you use the key, the world as we know it will be effectivly destroyed, and you will able to remake the world however you want. Obviously you're only human, but the machine will be able to translate any desired change without problem. So say you said "make the world have peace" it will be able to do so. Let's say everyone will be saved and placed in the the new world you created as well.

If you don't use the key, the world stays the same, both the good and the bad. However, there will always be people who want the power, and will take it from you. Furthermore, they must kill you before they can use the key, effectively making you guardian of the world. You won't be able to ever live a normal life again, constantly hunted.

What do you do?
Gotta say, I'd be pretty tempted to use it myself...
erm. is this a question?

i'd remake the world however i'd wish, make myself immortal and near omnipotent (but not omniscient).

and then i'd descend to the mortal plane (there'd be your typical fantasy stuff crossed with futuristic stuff and maybe a little steampunk) and shout

"FEAR ME, FOOLS!! I AM YOUR GOD!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

yeah. it'd be sweet.
*blinks again* See? Now this is why we can't have nice yet possibly globally unbalancing things!

I admit I will remake the world since I can't be bother dealing with other trying to kill me in order to use the machine themselves. However if I going to remake the world, I probably either erace my mind knowing I remade it (my mind will probably get corrupt with superior complex) if my world can stay perfect forever. Well it either that or split myself into two as the normal me and the god me but still connected with each other (but the normal me is unaware of the other selff).

I would save it.

1) With great power comes great responsibility. Stan Lee taught us this. I don't think any human should be put in this position of power, even if they have the greatest of intentions.

2) If you create the perfect world with no diversity to overcome then I don't see a purpose to life. Humanity, since its inception, has strived to create, expand and achieve, and if things are simply made perfect then humanity's quest is basically finished. Humanity is incredible because of what we have managed to overcome by ourselves, not with some etherial magic guiding us along (unless you believe in that stuff).

3) I'm not going to bother explaining the arguement because i'm not good with words, but basically there's that whole "God is omnipotent, omniscient and benevolent, so why is there evil?" arguement. Basically insert yourself in God's shoes here, since that's what you'd be doing with this key. If you know the arguement you should know why you can't just make a perfect world. It would actually be an evil thing to do to make things utopian.

I'd remake it. I would fix all the social/political/health problems one person can reasonably fix, and I would recreate humanity with a bit more compassion and less greed and anger. I would take away the military, because with no wars there would be no need for it (and let's face it, you don't need an assault rifle to hunt deer, no matter what anybody else tells you), and use that funding towards human aid programs, space exploration, alternative energy, etc. Then, after all was said and done, I would simply disappear into the world I helped create.

Also, Pokemon.

Can I just use the machine to keep everything the same except that I'm not in charge of the machine anymore? Because if so, I'll just do that.
