Norwegian. Came here because a friend of mine showed me ZP while we were procrastinating some programming, and just kind of stayed here after that.

Also, you don't need to worry about Scandinavia being several countries mashed together. I intend to conquer them all fairly soon.

I'm from the most western part of the Norwegian coast, but since I'm in the army now, I'm stationed in the far north, in Kirkenes, as a Norwegian border soldier.
Exactly what he said, down to the town we come from. Except for the army part, which I've served already.

Oh hush, you just want our oil.

I kid though, that would probably benefit all three countries greatly. I know I would appreciate the swedish road standard and lower tax on most foods and such at least. However, I am so strongly opposed to Norway joining the EU, that would be a major hindrance for me if such a thing was put to a vote. But you make some good points, and it would definitely make us one of the most powerful economies in the world (Norway's current GDP per capita already topping the list notwithstanding).

Ah but a Scandinavian union would have a lot more "weight" to throw around within the Eu, due to the reasons i stated above. united we could actually have a say at shaping the EU in a considerable way, in contrast to just tagging along which both Denmark and Sweden are doing.

....and yes dammit we want some sweet black gold(oil) too! part of the reason why we are so dependent on the EU is that we are not the "Saudi Arabia" of the north.... and as far as i've been told it used to be ours too, but you conned it from us... well kinda. fandens også at Hækkerup var sådan en svag drikker.

Country
Norway
I'm from Norway.

I used to think it was a bit weird that our three (or four) countries were lumped together as "Scandinavia", but then I found out that the word Scandinavia is actually derived from an ancient Germanic phrase which means something like "dangerous waters". This originally referred to the treacherous (and viking-infested) body of water separating Denmark from the rest of us.

Is that Hans Hækkerup you're referring to? What did he do? And the oil is in sovereign Norwegian waters in the North Sea, or at least most of it is, I know the UK have a few platforms out there as well. And true, it's very nice to have, but we don't spend the oil-money though, only the interest and investment profits it earns us. And our industries are weaker than Sweden's, and tourism is weaker than Denmark I believe. If the oil dried up tomorrow we would likely be the weakest of the Scandinavian economies, as we are a bit too dependent on it. And true, we would have a lot of weight in the EU as a union, but also a lot of responsibilities with bailing out the weaker economies and such (the whole Euro debacle really is a spectacle to behold). But it would be nice to have influence, and not just accept every single thing they come up with through the EEA(Norway has used it's right to veto exactly ONCE).

Blast, I wanted to be the one to introduce Scandinavia and the World to this thread... Oh well.

Anyways, Norwegian here, studying in Oslo.

And, as has already been touched upon, here are the correct designations:

Hello fellow ubermensch. We represent the pinnacle of social and political achievement world wide. Although the Norwegians sort off cheated with that whole "oil" thing.

Iceland btw.

Swede here. Also, Finland isn't actually a part of Scandinavia. It's part of the Nordic countries, but not Scandinavia. Scandinavia is Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Of satwcomic.com fame. Seemed appropriate.
Edit: Damnit, someone already posted some of her strips. :(

Swedish here, and loving my country as always, aside from when the snow storms screw our internet over, although that doesn't happen too much aside from the very start of winter.

since i am not originally finnish, nor am i yet finnish, but i have lived in finland long enough to consider my self finnish, i am going to say i am finnish, and once i do get my finnish citizenship, i will not be able to keep my other citizenship and will be exclusively finnish. besides which, finns cant tell that i am NOT a finn once i start talking to them, unless i tell them that i'm not a finn

so to sum that up, i am ALMOST finnish

I just noticed that most of the people answering the poll are not Nordic at all. Kinda silly they still insist on butting in. >=(

Anyways, I reckon most Finns can tell I'm one by my username, but to the rest of the world, it comes as a surprise. So, uhh, yeah... What now? Do we just... report in? Is there anything to do in this thread afterwards?

Oh, right.

If you're Scadinavian I'd like to know what you think about the fact that our five countries are being put into one lump of land...
It's all the same to me, really. We're just a bunch of down-to-earth people who stubbornly live in an inhospitable land of eternal ice and darkness.

(Play along, guys. I wanna ride this viking-theme for as long as possible.)
