Of the ones listed I voted for Silent Hill. But I think the most afraid I have ever been was playing Scratches. I took me like thirty minutes to get myself together and open one door. Also, was FEAR supposed to be scary? I didn't finish it cause I was like, "screw this. There isn't anything scary in it."

Fatal Frame was the scariest game I've played, though that was probably because I was young at the time. I played Silent Hill 2 and while the beginning was perfect, it just got less scary as I got used to it.

Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams on the XBOX is the scariest game I have played. The atmosphere in the game and the way it was presented was pure terror. Like may great early horror films (Cat People, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) Silent Hill 2 was scary because the things that you did not see, but only heard made the game scary and disturbing.

Another game that may be equal, was The Suffering for the original XBOX. The subject matter and the brutality that the game focused on was very haunting and memorable.

To all those that say, 'use the search bar' every time someone renews this perennial classic, the 'scariest-games-ever' thread, I say, enough. What's wrong with re-posting old threads as long as it is done with pacing and it isn't done in excess? It gives people opportunities to post about new games that have been scaring the pants off them and gives others the opportunity to weigh in about the scariest games ever if they missed the old thread.

But as for me, my choices for scariest game ever include:

1. Condemned: Criminal Origins and Condemned 2: Bloodshot.
2. Resident Evil 4 and 5.
3. F.E.A.R. 2, which was scary at times, despite its mediocrity.
4. Dead Space.
5. Bioshock.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Thief: Deadly Shadows.
Oh, good one. The Cradle was incredibly, one of the best single missions I've ever played.

But as for scariest overall game I'm going to say STALKER.
