Middle school, I'm in eighth grade.

Sigh.
Hah, same here.

I wish I could go to work, and make my own income.

And not live with my mom, who I sometimes hate, sometimes despise, sometimes pity, and sometimes just don't like.

I do Tafe in Australia. I don't know what that the equivalent of that is in American. I'm going to guess college. And to people greifing college you might want to look into changing courses. Generally if your not enjoying what your doing, your doing the wrong thing. I cant remember where I heard it but someone once said "If you do what you love you will never be working a day in your life"

Yeah the most different thing is its entirely driven by you. You can bugger off in the middle of a lesson and not come back until the next day. They don't care, you're the one paying out the arse for the course. Also you can swear and talk to your hearts content, as long as you arnt distracting other people who are paying attention.

Yes. Yes it is.

Though how much better depends on where you're going, where you'll be living, and what you'll be studying. Where are you going, out of interest?

Vastly. Depends on you, though.

I myself am on my third year (year abroad in Saint Petersburg) of a B.A. in Russian Studies.

First year of college. Loving it loads, studying Games Development and design...

Funny, hated school because of bullying but if i could turn back time and remove the bullies, i wouldn't mind re-doing it again, as long as i still get where i am right now (in other words, yes improve my grades but don't bother doing anything until 2009 whereby sign up to Newcastle college for the course im doing now, meet my boyfriend and end up right where im lying now which is on my bed doing assignments).

9th grade, so High School. Although here in Sweden the separation where you have to switch schools is 1-5, 6-9, and 10-12. Wait a minute... I graduate in 2013... Fuck, that's when the world will end. My life will be wasted!
There, corrected it for you. Or are you aiming to only go two years in Gymnasium? Also, concerning 2012 allow me to direct you to this page [http://www.facebook.com/pages/If-the-world-ends-in-2012-ive-wasted-my-whole-life-in-school-lovely/190582261581?ref=ts].

OT: To american standards I'm going to High school but as mentioned by [insert-person-I-quoted-here] the Swedish system are a little different. I'm going in grade 10, direction Science and it F-ing rulez!
I was joking about the end of the world thing.

I'm in my second year of college, but I spent seven years in the Army right after high-school. I think education is a good thing so long as you keep everything in perspective. You don't have to be obsessed with school and eschew a social life, but on the other hand: don't get caught up in the partying. Maintain respectable grades and make a social network with the teachers that have degrees in the field you want to go in. It'll make internships a lot easier to find and you'll likely have a job waiting for you when you graduate. Partying is great, but graduating early and making a lot of money just seems better to me. Besides, once you've got that high-paying job you can take vacation time and go do whatever the hell you want because you'll have the fiscal means to support your impulses.

What exactly is the difference between college and university?

So far I could only assume that college means community/junior college, since technically community colleges are not universities.
As far as I can tell (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!), it's mainly a US/UK difference. In the UK, University refers to a form of further education that takes place after leaving school, usually from the age of 18 up. It lasts three or four years in most cases, and you receive a degree at the end of it, MA, MEng, BSc, etc.

College is the American term for University.

However, in the UK, College normally refers to a sixth-form college; that is, a seperate school for the last two years of non-university education (id est between the ages of 16 and 18). Often these specialise in certain areas, and so appeal to people looking to progress in those areas. Or, if they're art/drama colleges, to those looking to smoke a lot of weed and have a lot of sex. Not everyone in the UK attends a seperate college for sixth form; the majority of schools continue education until the student leaves at 18.

Having said that, "College" in the UK can also be used as an alternative name for a university; often this is the case in ex-polytechnics. This is not a hard rule, however: Imperial, widely acknowledged as one of the best universities for Engineering in the world is known as "imperial College". This may be because it specialises in the sciences, to the extent where no humanities are offered. In the UK, this is often the difference between a College and a University: a College is a specialist organisation, a University is not.

As I said, if I've slipped up there, someone please correct me.
On that note, I was recently corrected by an instructor here in the US. I was told that "College" generally refers to a 2-year community school, technical school, or a specialized school. "University" is reserved for a 4-year or greater school. I was totally ignorant on the subject and reffered to our University as "college" in my teacher's presence, he was moderately miffed. It might also have to do with the fact that I always forget to call him "Dr."

High School. I think I liked middle school better. At least the bathrooms didn't smell like cigarette smoke in middle school.

Fuck school.

I got out of it as fast as I could and went to college for about 6 months.

Unfortunately, college sucks too.

...so what do you do now?
He eats paper and flails around when he's taken back to hospital for another case of ink poisoning.
I assume he is employed in the printing industry.

OT: School's gotten better, a lot better. Hell, I didn't realise how awful it was until it got better.

College soon too, that'll be a pain. Seeing as I'll have to socialise and sound more intelligent than a 12 year old schoolboy.
