Seinfeld. I can't stand more than five minutes of Friends before I wanted to reach through the TV and punch them all in the face.

Wait.... Friends was a comedy and not a shitty soap opera about the six blandest people in the universe?

Ohhhh. Laugh track. Seriously if friends lost that all you'd have is a really cheap looking drama.

Definitely Seinfeld. Friends always seemed a little...lame. Can't help that I had that one friend who ruined all the decent jokes.

Also, because it seems relevant (and because it's hilarious):

friends, Seinfeld is probably funnier when you see it, but if you think about what's actually going on in sienfeld you realize it's fucking stupid. friends can stand up to at least a bit of scrutiny
You're missing the point of seinfeld. It's supposed to be existential. It's bunch of people being goofy.

Seinfeld is winning? Hm
I remember i had a gay old time in my tiny city apartment eating pizza out of the box on my floor bed and watching Friends
Seinfeld just had a boringer execution overall. I try to remember why, but

(IMO) both of them are crappy shows, so I choose It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

My favorite show too, although it is a bit like an exaggerated Seinfeld. Characters are bigger assholes and all that. It's been said many times that it's "Seinfeld on crack".

I have no clue what Seinfield is, so I'll go with friends.

EDIT: I only found out after voting that we're talking TV shows... Y'know OP, put some effort into threads?
I'm expected to explain what each thing in my poll is now? I assumed anyone who votes would know what each thing is first :S

I never really liked Friends. The characters didn't grab my attention and I generally dislike people dancing in a water fountain for any amount of time.

Seinfeld was hilarious with every character bringing something interesting to the table.

I'm sure Seinfeld did more for comedy as a whole and I love both shows, But I definitely have to go with Friends, It's actually probably in my top 3 favorite shows

So your friends are idiots because they prefer Friends? I really hope your not saying that. Also, where is the "neither are funny" option?

Friends is a show for people with low attention spans who like "easy humor", to put it nicely. It's one of the blandest shows I've ever seen and the jokes are so painfully obvious before they are even delivered that it makes me want to switch channels instantly. They showed Friends over here in my childhood and even as a dumb kid I couldn't stand it because it was NOT FUNNY at all. Friends is a soap opera(see the constant hooking up) with some occasionally funny bits by Chandler and Joey.

On the other hand Seinfeld is BRILLIANT and it's a show whose reruns I've watched over and over again. Why is it brilliant? Because it makes humor literally out of NOTHING. The characters aren't really likeable in any way but they are all funny. It stays true to its theme of NOTHING right till the very end and I guess its brilliance lies in the fact that it explores various facets of society and makes things that you don't think as funny funny. Almost all of the main characters are memorable and even the secondary ones stick with you.

For me, the brilliance of a show lays in its staying power. I can watch Seinfeld or Frasier today and get a chuckle even as I know all of the jokes. Seeing Friends again makes me wonder how the hell was this show popular in the first place.
