It's all quite straightforward really. If you pirate the game, the Immortal Death Scorpion comes and hunts your ass down.

My question to you my fellow escapists, is this a good way to stop piracy? I personally think it is; The comedic value is enough for me to be all for it.

PS: Real men don't need "other" options.

PPS: I'm also aware that Dark Souls did something similar to this.

I... Just.... YES! Holy crap yes! I remember a Batman game took away a move that meant people were stuck at a certain point, but Immortal Death Scorpion on Speed takes the cake!

I think we have a winner!

Lol!
Somehow the fact that they implemented it for crack versions, makes me want to pirate the game just a little bit. But it'll probably get boring fast being chased by an immortal enemy every single time you reload.

I do hope it'll help stop piracy for a couple of people, but people who pirate games probably also know how to mod, so.. In the end not really all that helpful.

What Dark Souls did was leave maxed out NPC black phantoms everywhere for those who either pirated the game or tried to play it before the games release date.

*Activate God Mode*
Problem solved. Still, it's good to see developers making some fun out of something that will inevitably happen.

Once it's known, it gets cracked along with the other DRM. It being "funny" doesn't mean it works.

So you seem to be confusing "It makes me LOL" with "It's a good way to stop piracy."

I still have to say ArmA II's "turning you into a seagull" takes the cake, but still, mad props to Croteam.

Ineffective? Yes.

Funny. Hell yes.

I can imagine people might pirate this game just to do Let's Plays involving that scorpion.

It also had camera issues or something.

Anyway, it was cracked. Still, it was pretty amusing and was a good protection while it lasted.

Well a lot of games have something like this. GTA4 (bobbing camera), Godfather (unable to exit car) and Witcher (indestructible debris preventing you from progressing) come to mind. Although in case of Witcher I think it was just a bug :D

IMO it's best kind of DRM. Something that says "Did you think we forgot about you"

I wish they did something like that, but hidden and subtle.

*every 1000 steps makes you move one click slower. Halfway through the game, you can't move.
*reload time gets longer and longer every level
*remove one color every level
*lower gravity progressively
*random game save erasing

Just make the "bug" reach its climax later in the game, ruining the whole game and perhaps the save file with it, ahah.
