Male here

I can think of games that are sexist toward men, women, or both. It depends on the game. For me sexism is more about intent. If a company goes out to make a sexy game then by default I have no problem with it because its upfront pandering to the audience the game is made for. Its honest and I can respect the approach to titilating a base desire in the human psyche

However where I draw the line is when overly sexy games are made and the development team, publisher, PR guys, or anyone having anything to do with the game tries to say that the sexy characters are the norm for their gender.

Since skullgirls brought on this debate I have to say that their argument that "Its not sexist because a woman designed the characters" is at best laughably ignorant of what constitutes sexism. That said, I have no problem with that game because of the intent behind it. Its clearly meant to be pandering to people with sexy characters

Male.

I dislike sexism in games because it's always the same goddamn thing.

It's either that or, "I'M A STRONG, INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO IS JUST AS TOUGH AS ANY MAN! RAGHBLAGH I'MMA CAVE IN YOUR SKULL WITH MY MANLY STEEL-TOE BOOTS EVEN THOUGH I'M A FEMALE!"

It's annoying and just plain bad character design, not to mention they usually lack any kind of personality, or have such a generic personality that it's grating. I don't like it when a character is either a stereotypical example, or gets shoved down my throat. Some middle ground would indeed be nice.

Males get the same treatment. Yea there are some pretty ripped guys out there that do many awesome things, but come on really? I'm tired of my character handling a gun flawlessly with his huge sausage fingers.
