I don't have any particular problem with the idea. It's just that one of the most important factors in me getting turned on is the knowledge that the other person really, really wants to sleep with me. (Yes, I am one of those girls who wants to be worshipped - in the bedroom at least.)

So needing to give something in exchange immediately makes the encounter uninteresting. I want the men I sleep with to be lusting after me, not my Star Wars action figures.

You say that like it's some kind of confession, like it's weird. Even for a one night stand it should be like that. If it's just two people working separately to get themselves done you might as well stay home and do it yourself.

If there's one thing I've learned on this site, it's never to assume what I do/think/believe is true for everyone, or even most people!

Many of the other answers on this thread (and similar ones) suggest that there are plenty of people who don't mind having sex with someone who is doing it for a reason other than finding them attractive (in exchange for money/possessions, as a favour, as a dare, etc.)

I don't know if this is a bit of a gender divide. The "sex is sex" attitude (i.e. as long as all the right motions are going on, that's all that's needed) seems to be far more common amongst men than amongst women. I remember reading somewhere that sex is far more "psychological" for women than it is for men, so maybe that has something to do with it.

But personally, I agree with you. If the guy I'm with doesn't think I'm hot stuff, then we're not going to get very far. So I might as well just go it alone. (And fill in the role of guy-who-thinks-I'm-hot-stuff with my imagination.)

They are attention whores and you will see them at every convention. Who can blame them, if I wasn't married and there was a place a hot geeky guy could go to get mentally stripped by girls all night I would be there too.
