Poll: Sh-a-man and Sh-ah-man

My friend keeps saying shaman with the sha sounding like ya, while I say it where the sha sounds like la. I'm just wondering how other people say it.

I swap between the two depending on whichever feels best to say at the time.

...ya and la? Those sound the same to me. I've heard "shay-man" and "shah-man" - I say "shah-man" myself.

I've heard Shay-men, but I'm the only one that I know of who says Shah-men. Then again, I don't see why my friends would even be talking about shamans in the first place.
