Does anyone remember being a Shadowrunner?

I hope so, because I absolutely loved playing the original RPG in my table-top group as well as the first two console versions. Apparently, though, the entirety of the games up until the 360 version either didn't sell well or just weren't widely distributed; because, even amongst the usual groups of super-nerd-gamers and pretentious-old-school-gamers of which I'm very happy to be part, not many people have even heard of the game.

The 360/PC version was even reduced to living at the bottom of Gamestop's $5 bin after only a few months, which I understand as a fan of the RPGs, but whatever.

So, who's played games in this fantastic setting and who has enjoyed them?

Played the SNES version (which i loved) and the pen-and-paper version a long time ago.

Shadowrun would be an excellent world for a new game imo...

I played that as a teenager. That, and Snatcher, were the games that forever informed my mind as of what a good, immersive game was--you could go to the store counter and buy stuff! Or call people on the phone, talk to people on the street, get into shootouts, etc.

Good times.

The Xbox version was a waste of time and money. Seriously, ONE gametype?? No singleplayer/campaign? FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
I agree. They took what could have been an awesome gaming IP and turned it into "CTF w/ Magic"

Such a waste...

Shadowrun? Funny that you mention it since I just sold it about a week ago. (The one on Xbox 360) Although, from the sounds of it, it apparently had much more potential.

The SNES Shadowrun is one of my all-time favorite games. The 360 Shadowrun is a bastard child that the world is lesser for having experienced. Way to take a franchise and make it appeal to none of the established fanbase.

I've played the Sega version all the way through and parts of the SNES version.

I have also played it on pen & paper.

to be fair Fasa Studios were closing down and probably weren't able to build on Shadowrun (PC/360 version) as much as they wanted to.

Suppose they found that the multiplayer became better than they expected in play testing and therefore thought that the game could stand up on that alone.

Sad though that there wasn't a single player campaing... It could have utilized the bots really well as the AI was pretty good. Also the story had many places to go and yet didn't.

FS also announced at one point that they'd work on releasing some DLC... But alas weren't able to because of the they studios closure.

Why do games that have become crappy due to annoying fanbases/copypasta content/repetative run of the mill everything get made consistently and succeed when we could have awesome games like Shadowrun wih a full campaign with co-op and a wave/survival based mode added onto it's multiplayer.

I also though Shadowrun was going to announce a new standard for platform to platform being pretty much the only game that could connect matches with both PC and Xbox users... I mean c'mon that would've been awesome with all the other games we have out now making us end up buying games on other ports just so that we can join up matches with out mates.

Me = sadface :'(

While the 360/PC game didn't really stay too true to the series' universe, it was a fucking amazingly balanced and insanely fun multiplayer game that died well ahead of it's time.

I miss it still.....

The Shadowrun PnP rpg is the best ... although ... the latest edition is a bit of a mess.
Full of "wtf, are you serious?" stuff.
