The condition is you cannot shapeshift into something bigger or smaller than your own mass. You can only summoning one entity, which cannot be bigger than your mass either, although it obeys your orders, it is lawful neutral and it can think for itself so you can't make it commit crimes for you.

Hmm. Given your no bigger, no smaller mass rule, that severely limits what you can choose to do for either. I mean, usually what people would either want to change into is a bird so that they can fly, but most people are bigger than birds. And for the summoning, people tend to want to summon something they can ride on. Can't do that either. The thing you summon will either be too small to ride or it won't be able to lift you.

So yeah, the way I see it, you can either change into another person that has the same body mass as you, or you can summon a person that has the same body mass as you do.

So like, your own personal sex slave?
Apparently it can think for itself, so only if it wants to be.

I'd go with the shapeshifting. I could still turn into animals/people of the right size, they'd just have my mass. So I'd be a a 60 kg beagle, or a 60 kg grizzly bear. I just wouldn't be able to crush anyone to death with my giant bear ass.

Can I summon another creature if it gets killed? Can I banish it at will?

With Shapeshifting can I heal myself faster than normal and/or stop myself aging?

Either way shapeshifting, I could improve myself to a perfect idealized version of myself. See what it's like to be a woman. Turn into a bigger than normal wolf. Use it as disguises for whatever.

Easy; shape-shifting.

Except for the possibility of getting yourself killed doing something stupid while flying (or whatever action you are doing while turned into something else) I see absolutely no benefit that summoning would give you that you wouldn't get by shape-shifting. If you could summon things bigger than you (and multiple different things; it sounds like from your option that you get one thing and that's your creature forever) that might even the playing field but as the question is now, shape-shifting all the way.

OOOOH...That's a tough one...Shapeshifting into a huge badass dragon, or summoning an huge army of-

......Wait, I can't transform into anything bigger or smaller than me? And I can only summon one thing of my mass and it can think for itself?

......damn...Again it's hard.

On one hand I could shapeshift into other people and be the best spy ever...Or I could have a bodyguard/servant to do all the menial stuff I hate to-...Wait, it can think for itself. Nevermind, I can't do that to a sentient being.

...Shapeshifting it is, then. Now give me a moment to shape shift into my country's prime minister (Harper) and announce my/his resignation. :p That'll make those limits VERY worth it. XD

If it wasn't for the lawful neutral thing, I'd pick summoning. Not because I'd want to use the summon for the sake of committing crimes, more because I don't want to be stuck arguing with it over the letter of obscure rules in the middle of a crisis.

I'd take a dragon form. Winged, of course.
It'd help me burn calories and save on my petrol bill.

Plus, dragons are awesome. Chicks dig the...actually I don't think many chicks would dig the dragon bit.
They apparently have a history of kidnapping woman after all.

I'd chose shape shifting if I could transform into any animal (present, extinct, or fictional) or person and I could independently shape shift parts of my body (Hello fire breathing dragon head hands). I'd also chose summoning if I could summon people or creatures from my imagination, at least two at a time, and are willing to do my bidding while still having their personality and opinions in tact.

Since I can do neither with my conditions, I'll go with summoning and just have a pet hedgehog named Skippy. I would summon him any time that I would just be walking around and he could just hang in my hoodie to keep me company. I also wouldn't need to worry about feeding, cleaning, or his short life expectancy because I could just release him and re-summon him good as new.

So no summoning Big O?

Shapeshifting. Would probably be more useful.

Shape shifting, but not beyond my own mass!

Well, I'll just have to eat lots of cake or something.

BRB summoning my own Deathtrap.

The "lawful neutral" part though sucks.

Why can't it be the same alignment as the summoner?

Summoning sounds very illegal. If someone suddenly transported me somewhere without my permission, I'm calling the police.

Shapeshifting sounds like loads of fun. Even if you just used it to make yourself attractive and in perfect physical shape for your whole life, that's not bad.

And with that summation, I pass on the choice altogether.

Unless I can summon a shapeshifter. Then I would have it change into a supermodel, and make my ex jealous.

Given the rules, it would be a shapeshifter.
If it was you can summon anything and it is obedient or you can shapeshift into anything, I'd go with summoning.

Shapeshifting for sure.

You could make yourself look like anyone you want (either sex too for that matter). That alone would lead you to unlimited money and power (let alone being able to heal any wounds (shift them away) and theoretically never age either.

Summoning could be nice to, if the creature you summon has to follow your orders (pointsletss if it doesn't) as long as they don't go against it's moral fiber (whole non-evil thing). Could be basically a personal servent/bodyguard etc (and yes as mentioned above...sex slave as well). Still, I'd go with shapeshifting any time. Size could be used in different ways anyway....meaning you could look quite different, or be a 5 foot tall person with very sharp (dense/strong) claws (wolverine basically since you can shift away any wounds).

The whole trying out life as the opposite sex (especailly a very attractive person of the opposite sex) thing would be kinda cool too. Who needs a sex slave when you can be as hot as you want as either sex.

As far as flying, same size probably only means same mass...which can be distributed in different ways. You could probably become a bird for instance, but would have to be a VERY big bird heh...but you could fly like that. As far as falling and crashing...well in theory you could shift into a solid ball of mass and not get injured at all. Really depends on the limitations of your shifting as far as density of matter I guess.

Over all, no matter what...shapeshifting just gives you way more options. The ability to appear as other people alone is HUGE. It's enough to give you unlimited money and eventually power....so you could have TONS of slaves (or at least servents) anyway.
