Hey guys,

So during the past few months we have been bombed with next-gen and console wars news on the ps4 and xbox one.

At first glance it's obvious right? Ps4 is the right choice. It's cheaper, totally owned Microsoft at e3 (shared games, DRM ,etc) and not to mention it is more powerful than its competitor the xbox one. And like most people I jumped into the ps4 fan train.

Then came the big Microsoft policy change. No more required Internet connection, shared games allowed, no more DRM.

However, this did not change my mind on the next piece of plastic to sit in my living room, I was still getting ps4 because it was cheaper and more powerful.

But after coming home every day, watching dozens of youtube videos, reading dozens of websites and learning more and more about the next generation consoles
I found one terrifying piece of information. Sony is LOSING money. So far $6.4 BILLION has been lost. And plans to get that money back using ps+ on the ps4 and that NO changes will occur to play station network. As a big online multiplayer gamer this news struck me hard. I even checked multiple sources including sony's website. This means that PSN will stay the Same crappy online service. But then I looked to xbox one and found that they had dedicated servers!! Dedicated servers is amazing why can't Sony just put a bit in and be like Microsoft. So now I will be playing xbox one and it's thousands of fast dedicated servers.

Hyrdofire, I don't want to make any direct accusations here, but you have 54 posts on this forum, and all 54 of them are nakedly pimping the FUCK out of the XBOX One. If, hypothetically, you were a viral marketer, you may want to try a little harder to cover your tracks.

1. Links? This is kind of a bold thing to say without any kind of sources, and may or may not be accurate depending on what the source is.

2. The online play on the PS3 right now isn't bad. It might not be as good as the 360 (I wouldn't know), but it's still more than adequate for most online things.

3. We have no real way of knowing how much better Xbox Live is going to be on the Xbox One until the thing actually comes out and we get to play around with it. We really only have Microsoft's word to go on this right now, and I've only seen vague, fairly meaningless things from them on the matter. Basically, it's way too early to call Xbone's online a massive improvement.

Now, my only real concern if this is true isn't a lack of improvements to online play, but a lack of improvements to download services. Basically, it takes forever to download a game on the PS3 right now. If Sony really wants to be competitive in digital distribution, which will be a big factor next gen, they really need to step it up in terms of download servers.

No you didn't.
Almost every post you've made here has been fervently in favour of the xbox one. Which is fine, that's your opinion, and far be it from me to try to change it.
But I'm not sure why you're now claiming the opposite - it strikes me as a rather dishonest was of debating. Or am I being unfair?

This

Your dedication to defending the Xbox One is amusing. I'd like to think that you're hunched over your desk, brow furrowed and deep in thought, thinking, "Let's see, how can I come up with a completely new, bullshit reason on why PS4 is the suxx0r?"
Not at all. I'm just informing everyone of this news about PSN

[Pointless introduction to argument]

Do you honestly expect us to believe that? How many posts have you made defending Xbox One? You've shamelessly defended Microsoft and only just now are revealing yourself to have formerly preferred the PS4? And you're just now bringing to us the argument that solidified your change of heart?

Sorry, but that is very hard to believe, especially since this wasn't your original post. What, did you only just now realize the argument that "convinced" you wouldn't be able to convince us? Sorry, but I'm not buying it.

Yes, we know Sony is having financial troubles. Guess who else is...Microsoft's Xbox division. (that jab at Microsoft is not meant as an argument, but I couldn't resist taking a jab at Microsoft in this thread)

Yeah, that's not what I've heard: [http://www.gamespot.com/news/sony-explains-why-ps-plus-is-required-for-ps4-online-play-6410806]

"The main pillar for the PS4 will be online play. We're developing many new ways to play and connect which requires a large investment of resources," Yoshida said.
In other words, you'd better back your statement up. As of right now, it just looks like another lie.

I don't play online much but PS3 actually seems pretty good to me. Basically the same as when I played online on 360, don't get what the issue would be even if this was true.

This is true. A simple google search will tell u
What the hell is this? You're admitting that you posted bullshit?

Assuming it's not bullshit, we need some sources and citations here.
I wait with bated breath.

Also, your poll failed. What was the poll going to be?

SINCE WHEN?

You realize that we haven't forgotten you, right, Hydrofire? In a very small span of posts, you've already risen to Zeel levels of forum infamy.

Your threads are bad and you should feel bad.

We haven't forgotten that you have <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.828331-Whats-so-bad-about-xbox-one?page=2#20152128>a history of lying either. As if this thread wasn't proof enough.

Please stop. You're giving <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.828331-Whats-so-bad-about-xbox-one#20151775>thirteen-year-olds the world over a bad name. :(

Well, if this is the "shocking" "horrible" "news" that made you switch, you're really late on the draw here.

Like... REALLY late.

Suspiciously late, even.

The 6.8 billion dollar losses were last year's projection. My Googling has told me that they've GAINED money this year.

We've already established that his pants are clearly on fire (3 posts within 2 minutes of each other catching his lie) - though he has oddly decided to sweep this under the rug and continues to operate as if nobody noticed. He operates like my 3 year old son in many ways. Or maybe he's told the lie so often, he's starting to believe it.

In a way, it's kinda sad to watch his foot slide further down his throat, all for a company that doesn't even respect him as a consumer.

Yeah, I know. I was trying to find some clever way to maneuver him into actually addressing it, enough rope to hang one's self as it were, though that doesn't seem likely to happen. xP At this point I mostly Curious about why he's lying so blatantly. The initial reaction might be Microsoft shill, but frankly anyone working for Microsoft wouldn't make that big and obvious a mistake. Could it literally be a fan who's so attached to the brand, they find it necessary to construct complete fabrications in an effort to garner support?
Quoting you guys from the other thread, ... because here we are, same OP, spreading lies and misinformation yet again.

Such a hypothetical viral marketer would probably want to try a bit harder to fact-check too.

.....Dude, You seriously don't even bother making a new account before launching a new line of dribble? Even though all someone needs to do is look at your post history to immediately and concisely determine that you're not remotely the 'Shocked Former Sony Supporter' you claim to be? This is of course assuming that there is actually a person on this forum who hasn't already seen such ample evidence over the weeks. It's like watching Jason freaking Voorhees constantly return from the dead and perform the same plot over and over again. -_-

Want to tell us again how you personally tested the Kinect at that gaming expo that only had the one available Xbox One console on DISPLAY, and no mention in any media reports that I could find that the camera was ever made available for testing?

But hey! I'll humor this.

The PlayStation 3 was indeed quite a blow for Sony's ambitions, and lost a considerable sum of money. That being said, I actually find it a favorable mark for them, for one simple reason. Microsoft is this massive, amorphous mass of money that is more interested in getting a bigger pie then it is trying to cater to its consumer base. It doesn't remotely need it's gaming base to be successful, and so would no doubt be more than happy to go chasing the casual entertainment market, because that's where the extra money is. Sony, on the other hand, is on thinner ice. After the rather sizable whipping they took this generation, they need a solid win, and are certainly hungry enough to go after it. They've done a stellar job climbing back up in the later half of the PS3's lifespan, even as the Xbox 360's lineup of titles has somewhat slackened. This is opposite to what happened at the beginning of that generation, when Microsoft had plenty of awesome exclusives such as Mass Effect, BioShock... timed exclusives yes, but at the time they were the hungry competitor trying to topple the king that was Sony.

But lately, Microsoft has displayed little of the same hunger. They tack ads onto their homepage, their mobile line has been hampered by licensing costs that make it prohibitively more expensive for manufacturers then using Android, and just generally speaking, they don't seem very good at competing. They're used to being the big dogs, and having enough money to purchase small countries, and so generally act like a big lumbering elephants. Lots of weight, lots of power, but not quite so nimble. With a pay wall that covers almost everything, ads on the dashboard, Microsoft just seems more interested in getting as much money as possible out of each individual consumer, rather than making their platform more appealing to a wider market.

Probably because they assumed that they were just going to get the masses anyway. Being the big dog.

Also, since I'm here, why have you listed lack of added DRM as one of the things that made the PS4 more appealing in your eyes after E3, when you're a big supporter of the the Xbox One's old DRM?

So. Many. Inconsistencies.
