Shotguns. There's nothing like having a good boomstick. The Doom shotgun was really good and the Striker is great fun in Resident Evil 4. Weirdly enough, I don't like most of the shotgun weapons in Team Fortress 2; I almost always switch them out for different stuff (like my flare gun, God I love that thing...)

In multiplayer FPS (basically all I play), I tend to go for battle-rifle type weapons. High power semi-automatic.

Well, my favorite setup is definitely one double barrel shotgun, two revolvers. I think it's no secret I still dream of being a cowboy, even in modern FPS games.

I'm that crazy guy with the machine gun who pours so much lead downrange you wish that you were home watching Barney on TV.

Captcha: Weekends at Courtyard. Yes captcha, that's about right.

Light Machine Guns, why the hell are they not in the list lol. For me, not having to reload while you keep being a constant thread on the field is awesome in most games, like battlefield, zombie games and planetside 2 for example.

Shotgun! Fighting with a shotgun is a different game than fighting with other guns. Outflanking, keeping track of the angles, then coming out in the middle of a group and blowing them all away, then finding a place where you can ambush whoever shows up to check it out. Less emphasis on aiming ability, which I've got plenty of, I just don't derive any fun from it.

In the CoDs of today, alas, shotguns have terrible range (which in real life they DON'T), so I opt for an SMG or, rarely, AR, with the right balance of DPS and accuracy.

Any game in which there's an M14 or anything like it (Mattock and Saber in ME3, I'm looking at you), I can dominate with it.

True snipers seem too slow and unwieldy. I like the equivalents of the Battle Rifle or DMR from Halo, or the Marksman from Resistance. In ME3, Mattock all the way.

I love melee. Don't know why because I'm best with a good single shot rifle. I ran knife only back in CoD 4, before they added the infinite sprint, instant stab, lung attack crap. In my day you had to touch the guy before you could put your knife in him.
On the other hand, I always prefer getting up close and personal. I love being able to chain together melee kills, and any game where a basic knife is an option I use it way more than I should. Dead Frontier, I'm exclusively melee, and I can't play COD Zombies because of how melee-unfriendly it is.

(Honestly, those things'll hit you even if you knifed them and then jumped back a second before they swung. Plus, above wave 3 knives are useless.)

I'm torn between assault rifles and melee weapons......

Assault rifles are dependable workhouses that can do anything in my gaming hands (wow that sounded smug) and who doesn't want a STG44? But on the other hand melee weapons are more visercal and gruesome and there's nothing that gets the blood pumping like watching your character hack an enemy Knight/zombie/enraged hobo to death with an axe/crowbar/2X4.

Also: I LOVE bayonets!

I love combat shotguns, not a fan of old-fashioned shotguns that carry only 1-2 shots as well as firing and reloading horribly slow.

I want a solid fire-rate, decent reload speed as well as a decent bit of spread so that you can hardly miss and even hit multiple people.

It depends how I want to play the game
Usually I use pistols for James Bond/ Cowboy kills with as little bullet waste as possible the average fire rate encourages head shots and it looks good in a kill cam.
But if I really want to cause trouble I use the biggest fastest firing gun as possible.
Back when I used to play a lot of MW2 i had a load-out that had two G18s ( machine gun pistols) that did extra damage, if I could point at you, you were dead. (Also made lots of lag and crashed the game on occasion)

Depends on the game. Most often i take the shotgun because they're usually way overpowered and don't waste your ammuntion.

Multiplayer fps it's definitly the assault rifles and in L4D(2) you just want to mow down zombies, so every weapon that can do that fits the bill.

Sadly i always preferd multiplayer like the old HL1, Quake, UT.. so can i haz rockit launcherz and minehgunz? Kthx.

Bolt action non scoped rifle. :D

Mosin Nagant, Lee Enfield, Kar98k.

Failing that, something with decent range, semi automatic fire. Nice and controlled fire. Make every shot count.

If shotguns were represented properly in video games I'd use shotguns a hell of a lot for. But fuck the gun which is known to be a power house...but becomes ineffective at five feet because vidya...

Rocket jump into bunny hop FTW. I am somewhat disappointed by the death of competitive first person shooters and the rise in hoorah arcade military porn.

Explosives it is.
