This is another prime example of why society refuses to fix itself:
Having a kid watch these idiotic and more "mature" type of shows is like having a kid grow up around guns all over the house. Eventually, they become used to it and eventually become a part of it. The last thing we need is the movie "Idiocracy" coming to light. A 6 year old should be either learning something valuable, like basic computing, or bonding with parents more.
Bring them to your local grocery store for all same amount of knowledge your kid is learning from that show. Yes, you'll get a few things here and there but you wouldn't explain everything to a 6 year old.

I regularly watched King of the Hill as a little kid, so in my experience, it's OK. Of course, I didn't quite understand some of the jokes, me being little and all.
I'll let you decide for things like Family Guy (I saw some when little, but not a lot), but you probably shouldn't be showing a 6-year old ATHF or Metalocalypse.
