Prequel or Sequel?
I think it would be neat to see rapture right as it goes to hell
but I haven't really heard any good sequel ideas yet...
What do you guys think?

Yeah. I completely agree.

One of the coolest things about Bioshock was the backstory, and I dunno where a sequel would go.

Hm...a prequel would be intesting, maybe fight in the civil war that happened a year before the original. Not sure how they'd do a sequel, though, so a prequel is seeming more and more favorable.

i was originally looking forward to it being a prequel, i think thats something new instead of the standard rinse and repeat sequels we see all the time

Well, from the information I can gather from the teaser trailer, if the girl on the beach is indeed one of the little sisters you saved, or a child of one of the little sisters you saved, then it wouldn't be to much of a stretch to assume it will be a sequel, and not a prequel, but who knows, only the developers truly know and they won't be giving anything away for a long time, or at least until the middle or end of the year.

I hope it's not a prequel. The best thing about Bioshock was collecting the diaries and listening to the dialogue to piece together what happened and figure it out for yourself. Making a prequel would completely undermine that.

This is true... but I still think it would be cool to experience it.

What if it was both prequel and sequel? Sort of like how Rainbow Six Vegas 2 did it, only with more prequel. I think the sequel part would follow a different character, like a citizen that escaped somehow during the chaos only to return later or something.

If they were to do a sequel I suppose it could be from the bad ending and you know go from there. A nice openish city to play around in. ALthough that would disregard the good ending altogether and that is kinda unfair. I really hope it's a prequel. Start off just before everything goes to hell.

From what signs we have so far, it's a sequel. However, a great deal of BioShock fans thought it'd be neat to have a prequel - to actually witness the fall of Rapture firsthand.

My preference? Neither - let Ken Levine and co. decide for themselves.

What else is there? A companion?

I completely second that. It'd be cool to experience it firsthand. However, far as I know the trailers are making it out to seem like a sequel. Maybe in another time.

On a different note: can someone point out how to start a thread? I've honestly tried looking for a few days now and I can't find it. I didn't want to ask in a reply to another thread for fear of sounding stupid or horribly off topic and risk being banned. I've given up and swear that wherever the button is, it's not obvious. (for those who post regularly and the location of the button is second nature, don't go completely elitist on me. A quick point will help)

I think they should of left it at just one game. The game ended making it very difficult to make a sequel. A prequel would be easy and a lot of fun though. The problem I have with them making a second one is that 2Kgames have said they were thinking of making 4-5 of them. The problem with that is when you start making to many of the same game the fun gets really bogged down and people start to lose interest. Then you either completely redesign the gameplay (RE4 and GTA4) or just lose interest and the quality of the game goes down.

Click "forums" at the top of this page. Then select the category that your thread would go into. At the upper-right, there is a button that says "new topic" or something like that. press that, and there you go.

You go to the forum homepage and you click the new topic button. It is in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

The trailer also seems to indicate a lot of barnacles growing on the logo, which makes me think of the city in further decay. I'd like to see a sequel, maybe people going down to research ADAM - but with everything that happens in the first one it's hard to think of what's left.
