Depends on the game I reckon. If it is a level-based game where you unlock more areas over time or something then I don't really think so, as having a quicksve feature would just make players lazy as they could just switch off and restart instead of gaming over and facing the consequences. If it's a sand-box exploration game though I think it could be a good option to have as it means that you don't need to travel for miles on the end just to save the game and switch it off.

No, they should not. I hate quicksave. It just ruins the entire game for me.
How does having a quicksave option ruin a game for you? I dislike the autosave feature because it just saves whenever the game feels like and can ruin some experience by walking over some invisible line that triggers a cutscene and then warps you to an area you didn't want ot be in since you weren't done exploring. And you can't reload because the game saved Hating on an optional saving thing that is as I stated optional (meaning you don't have to use it if you don't want to) deserves more of an explanation.

Frankly I love a quick save option. Nothing worse than losing an hour of progress in a game because your real life requires your attention and you don't want to risk your console going up in flames while being paused for hours. Although I don't think every game needs one and it should put you in the exact position you were before you saved (so none of this quicksave to refill your health shenanigans).
I was being sarcastic. But on the internet you have to say you're being sarcastic, otherwise people won't understand it.

Since, you know, this question is pointless. If you don't want to use quick save (whatever reason there could be), you just dont use it. It doesn't mean a game should not have it. This entire thred is pointless.
Yet it's on page 3.

But games ARE made without quick save, games that would work fine with it. Why? I have no idea.

Ehh it's not entirely pointless when you get responses like this

In fallout 3 I never failed a speech check because of quick save, it kind of broke the game.

I think that it really depends on the game. If it's something with save points and the challenge would be destroyed by free saves, then no.

If you do put Quick Save in one game, however, MAKE SURE THE AI DOES THE SAME THING AFTER YOU LOAD THAT GAME AGAIN!

Shadow of Chernobyl did that completely wrong. Seems the AI on there seem to have short-term memory problems?

Yes. They're needed. Sometimes they can screw you up, but most of the time it does wonders. For example, I've been playing Morrowind. My game crashed. 3 hours without a save. Blah.

... Well personally I would find consoles allot more enjoyable if you could save whenever you wanted and had the option to save on different files.

The lack of saving options almost breaks some of the console games for me...

Like Riddick's checkpoints? Those things are like.....an hour apart sometimes. At least, that what it feels like on hard. For RPG's, saving whenever and wherever you like is a must for me. And they usually do that.

I've been playing Farcry 2 and the lack of quick save is annoying, as I drive for 20 minutes and scout a few guard outposts and then some random guy kills me, and I have to do it all again.

Does anyone else think games should have quick save, or be like Mass Effect where you can quick save only out of combat?
You should have bought Far Cry 2 on PC- it has quick-save
