some things:
-i do not care if the graphics on the PS3 are much better than the wii
-i do not care about ANY multiplatform games, i will most likely buy those games for my 360
-i DO care about downloadable content
- i DO care about online play, i do not know much about either system's online playability please fill me in.

1. I don't believe that graphics make the game. I'd pick the system with actaul depth via gameplay.
2. Right now, the Wii has more 1st party support than the PS3 (i.e. more exclusive games).
3. I only have a Wii, but the downloadable content (SNES, N64, Genesis, etc.) will keep you coming back. One downside, you will have to have a wireless connection, or you'll have to pay around $30 for a Wii LAN adapter.
4. The PS3, without a doubt, has the better online support. Very few games out right now, and not many in the future will support online gameplay on the Wii.

Buy the system that has three games you like playing.

Another thing to consider is, Wii games hit store shelves fast. So you won't have to wait a decade for a game you saw in a preview. Wait is usually 3 months.

I can only speak for the Wii as I own a Xbox 360 and a Wii personally.

The Wii's incredibly cheap price make it a good bargain and it does have a great amount of games that are worth playing. As well as a nice catalogue of Gamecube games if you dont own a GC already.

I plan on buying a PS3 eventually (Sony reduced the price to 300 GBP, about time as well) becuase I do beleive the PS3 has alot to offer but if you want more choice and you own a 360 already then the Wii is the way to go, the majority of the good games for the PS3 are out for the 360 as besides the most anticipated PS3 exsclusives are not out yet and in the mean time the PS3 can only get cheaper.

I have both, and I love both, which is why I voted that you would like either one, but with Brawl coming out on March 9th, I can't let it go unmentioned. I'm a huge smash brother's fan, and online play is going to be awesome. I can easily see it being the only new game I will ever need. Just something to think about...

The wii is definately the better console if you've already got a 360. Since you've got that for traditional shooter-type games, RPGs etc you can get the wii for less than half the price of a ps3 and have a much more varied and interesting games collection.

If that is all that you care about, just keep your 360 and save $550 :)

Already got a 360? Then go for the Wii. I agree with Mr McGee.
You agree with Mr McGee that the Wii is the place to be? We'll see! We are going to flee (my wallet and me) to see if the gamestop has a Wii. Though it could be that the Wii will be unavailable to one like me (a late buyer, you see..)and I will be barking up a tree, unfortunately.
Hehe!

Either: don't get either, get a Wii or get a PC. In other words, don't get a PS3.

Save up your money and buy all three. It took forever but that's what I did and now when a game comes out my only concern is...do I want to play it on a system that all my friends own (360) or do I want to play with total strangers (PS3). Then I just forget both and go play No More Heroes! Let the blood rain down on me!

The Wii is more cost-effective. You can get a Wii and roughly 5 games for the same price as a PS3 without any games. If you pick up the Wii and all those games that are already out that you're interested in, that's at least a month of solid entertainment there.

As for your other points, downloadable content is probably going to be stronger on the PS3 for a while, but once developers really start to get used to the Wii then all three consoles should be equal in that category. Same thing for online play - the Wii has been starting out slow with online-capable titles, but that'll be picking up soon enough (although the 360 is probably going to beat out both in terms of online play for the rest of this generation).

On the final point of fun-factor, there are and will be fun games on every console. The real difference between the PS3 and Wii here is that Wii games will try to be fun in new ways using the motion controls, while PS3 games will be fun in the traditional gaming sense. So that's really just a personal preference there for which kind of fun you prefer.

So really my whole point is just that they're probably both going to provide the same amount of enjoyment, it's just the Wii can do it for $300 less.

The wii is a good console, a lot of people hate NINTENDO for it but then again a lot of people hate NINTENDO period. But if you get it just be careful with the games you buy (a lot of shovelware going on) but I am 100% positive that you'll have a blast with the good games that are out there.

Wii has inferior graphics (comparable to the Playstation ONE graphics), weird name (come on.. Wii sound like.. wee... piss, didn't Nintendo think of that?), annoying controls (unles you like waggling a stich in the air... try play first person shooters with that), NO DVD MOVIE PLAYER (wtf right?! my ancient xbox can play DVD's...) but lots of colorful games (mostly kid games but not only that) and is cheaper.

PS3 has uber-power hardware (so best graphics and sound etc...), Blue Ray Player (plays DVD too of course). Alas very few games, and costs more than the Wii.

So... if you like colorful sport or party games or more 'children oriented' games (like Mario or Zelda, which are child-friendly, but still are fun for adults too) then go for the Wii.

If you are a person who like to have the best hardware and has the money to buy it and has the patience to wait for the games... go for PS3.

I actually do not see where this popularity for the Wii comes from. Maybe because many children and teens choose him because of the variety of the games and the funny 'original' controls (well... not really original... it's just the next attempt to a Nintendo Power Glove and a try to be totally different than the other consoles' controles... To me they are awkward and unconfotable to play with, but you might have fun with them).

In any case as a console the Wii is definitively inferior to PS3 and Xbox360, still it does not mean you cannot have fun with it.

I guess you can either: buy a Wii or Xbox360 now and save some money for the PS3 when it has more games or just buy a PS3 directly.

Sincerely even if the Wii has more popularity (as sales go) than the PS3 it certainly does not mean it's better. It's cheaper, and this is a great factor considering that it's a console that targets children as an audience (of all its games only 3 or 4 are for mature people)

I would save up the money and buy a nice gaming PC. The PC is gonna see a whole boatload of nice games for 2008 from FC2 to Spore, if you already have a magical space computer able to handle that, then I would go with the Wii just for the novelty of it. Brawl looks like a nice party game and I'm actually interested in No More Heroes.

There's always the PS-WII-60; that's a great system, and it makes pancakes (but mine keep coming out runny! EEW!).

You've already got a Xbox 360, which you say you will buy all the multi platform games for, so I don't really see the point of buying a PS3, unless you really want to get the exclusives coming out for it. With the Wii, you get a lot more variety in games, due to the unique controller. But, I suggest the best option would be to check which console has the games you would enjoy the most, and buy it. It's up to you, and good luck.
