No. Your name is a connection to your family and history changing it is like rejecting your entire family and reinvent yourself as an independent. I know families might be crap, but they make you the person that you are so it's important to remember them.

OP, don't change your last name. Just don't. Oxford is a good name, and if you change it (even to something remember-able and not tacky) you will be forever correcting people, being "that guy".

If you are going to do it though, make your whole name "Swarley".

Just sign stuff like I do - Lazily with initials. That way if someone says "could you sign this for me?" you can write 'NO'...

In what ways will it make you happy?

To what degree will this satisfaction equal?

Have you compared the pro's and con's of such a decision?

And could it be any better than the name you've got?


I would stick to your name as it is. Oxford is not bad, but Tesla is no greater. Be who you are and live with what you are granted.

I also think people are looking at this way too big, I mean to me, it's not really that much of a big decision, it's just something new to do because I am bored and sick of my name, I've had it for 25 years, I'm over it.

Also, the only connection I have with the name is my brother and he wants to change his too, that's just the kind of people we are.

That is not a bad name. At all.
If you want to change your name, go ahead, nobody can stop you. But it's not just a casual affair. It will take time and work. Also, people will be creeped out when they find out you deliberately changed your name to sound like someone else.

I'd absolutely say yes, but I have a feeling Electric Zombie Tesla would hunt you down. Nikola is a cool enough first name that you could do a lot with the surname.

like naming your kid thor
or hyperion
or whatever
plus in formal settin u can be intruduced and Mr. Fury
ahahahah

still oxford is pretty classy
it was all the power of an OX combined with well.... a ford
but still thats like a nearly a transformer
