I suggest RDR, I've never played Neir, so I'm not going to bash it, but RDR has such an amazing story that, even though a little cliche, is still fun to play. The ending may have been spoiled for you, or you may be able to see it coming a mile off, but it still turns out to leave you speechless, then the hidden theme comes into play after you have beaten the game and done one specific stanger mission in Blackwater. RDR is a good buy, no doubt, so that's where my vote is going towards.

Red Dead Redemption is great... when it isn't glitching to all hell, that is. I've heard good things about NIER, though I've never played it.

If you're buying for PS3, go for RDR, because the 360 version crashes continuously unless you download it, but downloading it takes up at least 6 gigs.

Sorry for the double post here but I felt that I needed to say something about this.

I have the 360 version of Red Dead and it hasen't crashed on me yet, what it has done is, in multiplayer sometimes, at the loading screen it will stay there forever, and that has happened to my friends too, I don't know if that happens on the PS3 version though.

I know it's too late, but I'm still gonna say NieR despite not playing Red Dead Redemption. However, you can probably find better deals on NieR than that. I saw one going for $15 used at Gamestop, and it looked like it was in good condition.

Then again, you have an anime DP so perhaps Nier for you.
I fail to see how the two are related.
Japanese Role-playing Games are very similar to Anime, which are also made in Japan.

That's how they're related.

I must have missed the meeting then.

I played both of the games, and i liked both of them.

The stories for both made me emotional (which isnt really that hard).

combat wise, i liked Nier a lot more. If you played a lot of 3rd person shooters, you know what RDR is. It's grand theft auto with a bullet time mechanic.Every battle it's a similar concept. You see enemies, you use deadeye, you pick as many heads as possible, then clean up whats left over. There are no real special fights. It only mixed it up when you got to use Gatling guns and cannons once in a while. It bored me pretty quickly though. Nier is more like a combination of those flying games and action RPG's. You have to dodge evemies that fire large magic balls at you and combo them with swords and magic. Bosses have a nice variety to them. A small part of the game is even a text-based adventure.

Basically if you arent bored of 3rd person shooters, RDR is good. If you are, Nier has a lot of original ideas.

Just because it's Japanese doesn't mean that it's suddenly in the same vein of anime. NieR isn't like anime at all.

Really? Because I've seen quite a few animes and played quite a few RPGs and other than the fact the characters looked the same, a majority of the RPGs I played and the Anime's I looked at had nothing in common :/

Are you talking about personalities? Because if thats the case, then I could say the same about American games with bald headed arrogant action heros :/

Read Dead was good but not amazing. However, I've never played NIER so I wouldn't know. I clicked Other, I'm sure Mass Effect 2 has dropped, (it's like 20 bucks at gamestop, I don't know about Amazon) otherwise there's Fallout New Vegas, Assassin's Creed 11 or Brotherhood...the list of better games goes on.
Assassin's Creed 11. OMFG! What happens!?!?!
Ahahahah.

I was thinking about putting II. Instead I put double ones...let me fix that.

Get both. Nier is preety cheap at around $15 bucks. Probably get Nier first, then Red Dead.
