I have played Oblivion to death and was wondering if there was any point to getting it for the pc. Don't get me wrong I love the game, to me Oblivion is like a scaled down version of..God (yes that's a Clarkson quote) but like I said I've played it to death so I am asking is the core game any different apart from graphics and dose the mods change that much about the game?

BTW the games £20 on steam with all add-ons

I did that exact thing. Had it on the 360, played it to death with all the expansions, then got ir for PC.
about 72 hours in so far. More than worth it, it is still as great as the first time, but this time there is a whole modding community just waiting for their mods to be used.

depends whether or not you want the mods.
check out this site

(it's the largest oblivion mod community I know)

the core game (modders call it vanilla) is the same but you can choose which mods to add to your tastes and interests. with time and effort it is very possible to have a completely different game.

If you can get it cheap and want to try mods what are on here for get your ass down to somewhere and buy it. There are so many damn amazing mods for it but becareful about conflictions that is the only downside.

I find the controls just plain work better on computer. Plus you get the options for mods, cheats, etc. I have my main, no-cheats account, and then I have a super-powered, major-cheat account just for fun. Is good.

If you can see yourself playing it, the mods are AMAZING. OOO, MMM and the texture packs basically make it the equivalent of owning a whole new game. I bought Oblivion for the PC just for the mods, and it was totally worth it.

They have some really nifty ones that you can put on and remove just for entertainment too, like hilarious spells that male everyone dance!

Vanilla Oblivion is a travesty. Modded Oblivion is fantastic. Either get it or wait for Skyrim.

Nah. You've got the version with better controls. Why buy it again?

I say get it for PC. I had it for the xbox as well it is a decent vanilla game. But after I bought the PC version I will never go back. the PC version can be modded like crazy. Takes a good game and makes it great.

About 5 years and 15+ gigs of add-ons say that you should drastically re-title this thread into: "Can someone explain what a modding community is, and what the benefits to it are?"

A simpler answer: yes.

A lure to the teenage gamer: have you seen the better body mods? Playboy on your computer. Rendered by geeks.
