I voted yes. I will go on WoW binges from time to time, but usually after long breaks (weeks or so). It's obviously something that you enjoy, so I say stick with it.

I know that there are always a lot of these threads, but I am really torn and I would like to know what some of you guys think.
------------

I have always enjoyed WoW, but lately I have had to really been in the mood to play it and as a result of me not playing for 3 months I cancelled my subscription, but now I find myself very bored.

I miss WoW a bit and I have a feeling that it will give me something to do when...I have nothing to do.

I am not addicted and I play WoW like it is a game.

I want to go back and give it a try, but it cost $15 to do so.

So what do you guys think?

Note: I am looking for help and constructive advice only please.

EDIT: Hey guys can your read my OP before voting? Also, subjective voters would be nice.

EDIT2: I am a casual player who treats WoW like a video game and not like a job. I only have 1 level 80 and his Gearscore is only a respectable 5300
Cat's apparently comming out soon...so that will be a wave of fun to be had.

A GS of 5.3k? O_O
According to an add-on? Cause that;s crazy numbers right there :p

I'd wait 'till Cataclysm, tbh, and continue on your 80, and maybe roll a new character to experience new Azeroth ^^
Is it really? On my realm, Mal'ganis 5.3k GS is only passable.

But then again Mal'ganis is the most elitist of any realm I have ever played on.
I dunno, I'm on Emerald Dream (European) and 3.3k pretty much means you're done with ICC 10 man. Using http://wow-heroes.com/ anyway. The only time I've seen numbers like that has been with an add-on from Curse.com

Go figure.
Oh yea no. USA realms mostly use Curse addon.

That is where I get my numbers from.

On WoW heros I am only a 2795 idk if that is good...?
EU that add-on is seen as completely irrational and unreliable :p
2.7-2.8k isn't quite good enough for ICC 10, but you could do it if you were a damn good player and in a guild. Wouldn't get you into pugs tho xD
Well as long as I do 4.5-5k dps I am usually fine in ICC 10 pugs.

And I am in a guild and I am a damn good player XD

*ahem* Perhaps I could help you in this dilemma, because, you see, I had the exact same problem about half a year ago. I quit Wow last year around this time because once I hit level cap, things got amazingly boring. And I realized all that grinding for that promised light at the end of the tunnel (ie End game raiding) wasn't all that it was cracked up to be and I was dealing with self obsessed snobs who wouldn't raid with me because they'd thrown away more hours of their life getting virtual pieces of armor.

Months past, and my friend, who was still way into it, wouldn't stop berating me with pleas to come back. Finally, I caved. I bought another month of membership and started playing again. So ignoring my previous bad experience, I decided it was time to get serious about getting gear. I spent literally 12 hours to get a pair of epic shoulders. And that's when it hit me. This was the game amounted to. The armor. All the damn hours wasted just to get the damn armor. What happened when I finally had the armor I needed? I'd be bored IN GAME. Nothing to do. I cancelled without the month even being up.

Anyway, sorry for rambling, but here's the thing: All games are pointless but WoW seems to really like to make you feel like what you're doing is pointless. Atleast in Single player RPGs there's an end. You feel accomplished. It's what you're working towards. There's no end in WoW. Or any MMO for that matter. Just endless grinding, endless questing. The same 5 fucking dailies for the same crappy emblems for the same crappy armor. It's not worth it. It's just not worth it.

My advice is find yourself a new way to be entertained. Like reading, I am addicted to books now. Might I suggest The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks? Superb. Or at the very least just find a different game to play.

That's my two cents. Do with it what you will.
Thank you very much for your insight. I appreciate it.

Now a little off topic. What is The Night Angel trilogy about? XD

If you feel like playing WoW again, you should play WoW again. You say you play it like a game, so I see no trouble with you playing again. Only issue seems to be if you think it's worth the money, and since I don't know your financial situation, I'd say I don't know. But if you can afford it, go for it.

Wait till Cataclysm. Maybe renew your subscription a week or so before?

If you have a life then no. Unless, you're sure you won't get addicted.
However, if like me you don't have a life. Then go right ahead and enjoy some raiding.
I have a life and I won't get addicted.

But as of now my life is pretty boring...especially at night which is usually the only time I play.
same with me, i stopped playing wow 6 months ago but now inbetween partying in the summer and blazing alone at night in my room i want something to do. I vote yes, play wow and be glad you can, my account is locked right now for some reason :(

What happened to those free "14 day trail" discs in Gamestop?

Personally, I don't think you should. There are probably better uses for your time, though not as mindless.

No.

As you said, you've been there and done that. If it was an offline game which you could just pick up and replay, I'd say go for it. But I don't think you'll get all that much value out of getting back into WoW compared to the investment of both subscription fees and the time it'll take you to grind a character back to where you were enjoying it.

I suspect that if you took that time and cash and put it into a new game, you'd get much more value out of it.

...or, as has been suggested previously, something new entirely like reading a new series... :)

Go for it, you can always cancel if you don't enjoy yourself.

Also I hate it when people say 'OMG you can get addicted to that', it's not a bloody drug already, people get addicted to all sorts of games and it's just that WoW has such a large community that people say it's addictive.

Hey guys, don't go play Halo, you might get addicted!

Whatever I can say about the books doesn't do them justice. But essentially its about assassins, but lots of other things too: there's several wars, and magical objects, and many other things. It's very hard to summarize because of how much goes on in the plot. But the writer is fantastic, lots of surprises and twists. Great character development. I'd highly recommend it. First book is called The Way of Shadows.

I do find this addiction thing rather tiring, if you enjoy it, then play it, and time cards mean you can play for a couple of months, then leave it til you fancy playing again.

I never really understood 'addiction' just meaning 'doing something you like doing, but a lot', I know a minority get obsessed, but really, I think most people play it a lot because they like it, not because it's some kind of chemically induced desperation.

I say either give it a go now, or wait a few months and give it a go when Cataclysm hits.
