*ahem* Perhaps I could help you in this dilemma, because, you see, I had the exact same problem about half a year ago. I quit Wow last year around this time because once I hit level cap, things got amazingly boring. And I realized all that grinding for that promised light at the end of the tunnel (ie End game raiding) wasn't all that it was cracked up to be and I was dealing with self obsessed snobs who wouldn't raid with me because they'd thrown away more hours of their life getting virtual pieces of armor.
Months past, and my friend, who was still way into it, wouldn't stop berating me with pleas to come back. Finally, I caved. I bought another month of membership and started playing again. So ignoring my previous bad experience, I decided it was time to get serious about getting gear. I spent literally 12 hours to get a pair of epic shoulders. And that's when it hit me. This was the game amounted to. The armor. All the damn hours wasted just to get the damn armor. What happened when I finally had the armor I needed? I'd be bored IN GAME. Nothing to do. I cancelled without the month even being up.
Anyway, sorry for rambling, but here's the thing: All games are pointless but WoW seems to really like to make you feel like what you're doing is pointless. Atleast in Single player RPGs there's an end. You feel accomplished. It's what you're working towards. There's no end in WoW. Or any MMO for that matter. Just endless grinding, endless questing. The same 5 fucking dailies for the same crappy emblems for the same crappy armor. It's not worth it. It's just not worth it.
My advice is find yourself a new way to be entertained. Like reading, I am addicted to books now. Might I suggest The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks? Superb. Or at the very least just find a different game to play.
That's my two cents. Do with it what you will.
