do you believe in the protest? if so, then yes. in the words of Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has".

If you truly believe in what youre protesting, then you should do what it takes to make yourself heard
you my good sir or ma'am just said exactly what is on my mind.

If you think your education is more important then you should focus on that instead. Ultimately it is up to you and how strongly you believe in the protest and college. If you feel strongly enough about it then by all means protest, but make sure you believe in it.

while i can understand your want to change the way things are run around here a protest in this situation isn't the best option, instead a better solution(that take will longer) is to go to collage take up a career that would allow to make more of a diffeice in changing the country than a protest could, in short stay in school and change the system from the inside.

"Should I follow my beliefs or should I focus on my education?" This really depends on your major. Is it a specialized major that will nearly certainly get you a job in the future ( engineering, pharm, nursing, med) or is it a major in something completely useless such as art, history or japanese?

Personally I think you should join a protest that isn't in the middle of the school year. There are a lot of student protests on most college campuses. I took place in nearly six last year. You can at least attempt to bring change without having to sacrifice your well-being to make a statement.

I recommend you move to Canada, live there for three years, then apply for citizenship. Going to university is cheaper as a foreigner or a citizen (much, much cheaper as a citizen. A Canadian friend of mine goes to school free without external support).

This way, you dodge the compulsion to protest (comparatively speaking), and university is cheaper. Win/win.

This country was founded on protests, built on protests, and made for protests. If you think it is important then go for it.

While it may do some good, it doesn't put food on the table. Being arrested is also quite a bit more of a bad thing than it used to be, since employers are really looking at your records now.
