Poll: Should movies have shorts before the feature film? Paperman is really awesome

I think I'm a bit late to this party, being in the UK and Wreck-It Ralph having not come out yet, but I just saw the Paperman short.


How wonderful is that! I completely fell in love with it.

So I was thinking - should short movies before a film come back? Would you be more inclined to see a film if it had a short showing before it?

Thank for reminding me about that video (it was on my bro Facebook update and I said to myself I will watch it later but forgot until now).
The short was quite interesting due to the combination of 2d and 3d visual style. It got weird but in a good way whose those paper planes come alive and lead the two together.
Anyway to me it depend if the main film length. While it fine for 90mins films but for two hours or more? Also it depend if I'm watching it in Imax or not (extra time length due to the trailers and ads). Overall I saying no since the short before the film are usually short anyway.

I am totally for shorts if they are that good.

Although I'm pretty sure Pixar have already single handedly proven that pre-film shorts are a force for good.

It really depends on how long they are. Anything over ten minutes will more-or-less wear me out for a short.

Would I be more inclined to see a movie if it had one of these before it? Umm... No.

I wouldn't mind watching it if they played a good one, but it's certainly not going to have any bearing on my choice to see the movie, my interest in the movie will decide that...

Paperman gave me so many feeeeels! As to weather or not I'd be more likely to see the movie itself, I don't know for certain. I went to see Wreck-it Ralph for Wreck-it Ralph. The short was just a nice bonus is all.

For me, it depends on the film. I wouldn't mind seeing a short before an animated feature, but not so much before a live action movie or a long movie. I'm not entirely sure why I'd have that preference. I just couldn't see myself watching a short before a movie like Die Hard or something like that.

I wouldn't mind it. Hell, famous cartoons like Loony Toons got so popular because they were shown before feature length films. It would be cool to see them make a comeback. Especially stuff like Paperman, which is far less humor centered, and much more artsy and emotional. Yeah, I'd like to see it come back!

Paperman is such an awesome short film. The art style feels like a western version of Valkyria Chronicles. I just love it.

OT: Pixar's been doing it since, what, forever? I think more major animation studios like Dreamworks should follow in their footsteps and create tons of interesting short films.

Anyways, I really liked it. It had this hand drawn animation feel fused with modern technology. Thanks for sharing.

EDIT: Didn't really answer the thread did I? Answer is not really. But if this is a sample of what we expect out of main feature film, then go for it. I see this film as great intro short to Up. Incredibles? Not so much.

To be honest....not really. Sure Paperman is cool, as are the other Pixar shorts.

But how much extra shit are we gonna stuff in before movies? Around me, if a movie starts at 11:30, it's real start time is closer to 11:50, what with the previews, commercials, no texting ads, buy our food ads, etc. etc. Add in a short, and that's close to 25-30 minutes before the movie actually starts

I did not like paperman that much. I'm sick of Disney writing about people who value love over EVERYTHING else. It's stupid and they've done it too many times. :/

Nice visual style, though.

I wouldn't mind more shorts as long as they're not written by Disney (not pixar, their shorts are pretty good).
