If all the emperors were dragonborn, and there right to rule was given by the gods, because they were dragonborn, etc. etc. shouldn't the dragonborn, aka your character, be the heir if the current emperor should be assassinated?

I realize the political system got changed by the elder council after the end of the septim line, when martin died 200 years ago. I understand that they may have changed a lot of the rules to being heir the throne, and i understand they may be electing them now, but shouldn't the dragonborn at least get some claim to the throne, like the ability to run for emperor?

Am I right, if not, please tell be where i when wrong.

also, spoiler alert:

He does get assassinated, by you in the dark brotherhood quest line. oh, the irony.

IF you are a warrior that singlehandedly make Dragons his *****, why worry about the claim?
so you're saying go the tiber septim route, and just take over? I like that idea.

There is a book near the beginning of the game that talks about this. Akatosh gave the gift of dragon blood to Tiber Septim which solidified his right to rule men. Since then, there have been Dovahkiin both within and outside of the Septim bloodline, there is no heriditary relationship.

Since the end of the Septim bloodline, there is no reason that a non-Septim Dovahkiin has any special claim to the throne, aside from being favoured by Akatosh (and possibly Talos).

I agree that the Dovahkiin of Skyrim could possibly be a prime candidate, but a coronation in Cyrodil is probably beyond the scope of an already epic game.

While it could work in theory, i doubt it would work as DLC or any playable part of the game. Since the Dragonborn can be of any race, and the Emperors have only ever been of the Men and Mer races not the Beast folk. Plus it could be difficult to justify for the character if you choose to aid the rebellion against the empire.

However it may be workable as background lore during the next game, If Bethesda decided upon a concrete end to the civil war.

If you are saying they should make it canon, then no it won't happen. i like to think my nord hero used his political favors and the love of the people to marry elisef to become high king. from there, who knows, but you wont see it in elder scrolls 6. I am kinda interested in what the canon ending to the war would be.

Hell, that's how I play my character. He legitimately believes he's the rightful heir to the throne, and has no problem killing anyone who says otherwise.

I think that the dragonborn has a stronger claim on the throne than anyone alse. And he can kill dragons. Big plus.

It depends on whether you go empire or stormcloaks, if empire, then the people should choose you, and you then lead the massed legions to crush the aldmeri dominion, if stormcloaks, you should ride south on a dragon, take the throne, and lead the massed legions to crush the almeri dominion. because screw the dominion

Why worry about the RIGHT to rule? I am an extremely powerful archmage werewolf Dragonborn. I eat dragons souls for breakfast, have defeated the 8 dragon liches and recovered some of the most powerful weapons and items on the continent.

I am Harbinger of the Companions, head of the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild and have contacts within the Psyjic Order. I have the favour of all 9 Divines and am champion of the entire Deadric pantheon.

If I want to rule this world, who the fuck is going to stop me?

If they would allow a Khajiit on the throne, I'd say my Dovakhiin is a likely candidate.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
It would be awesome if you could become emperor but I doubt they will let you, still, ARGONIAN ON THE THRONE *throws up the horns*

If you're a Breton / imperial dragonborn they might just accept your claim.

And if they argue, release the voice..

I say yes, because Argonians are taking over B******, plus an Argonian as Emperor would be epic, but I also want a game set in Black Marsh too so.
