Poll: Should there be cake in Portal 2?

They should have it so If you shoot a portal at a certain part and you walk through it (with the portal you shot the only portal you got) and there is cake and cameras with birthday hats on.

The cake joke was funny, but it was nowhere near the funniest thing in the game. It only became annoying due to the fans.

I found the small hints that you would be killed much more humorous to be honest.

Portal was full of humorless jokes that people blew way out of proportion.

I agree with the blown out of proportion bit, but I certainly found them funny.

I'm glad they're cutting it. I'm fucking tired of humorless twats parroting THE CAKE IS A LIE endlessly. There is no "Gamer Culture" And you, OP, are part of the problem that caused them to cut the joke you so love. People like you who obsess over what was just a fucking joke and turn it into more then just a fucking joke, a meme to annoy everyone else.

The meme isn't 4 years old as such, Its been going for 4 years, see the difference? I mean if there was a time in those 4 years where people had forgotten it then I wouldn't mind if they resurrected it, but if it where in Portal 2, it wouldn't be a resurrection, it would just be a continuation of this thing that has long outstayed its welcome.

I think the game should say there's cake and continulously hint at cake throughout the game. But this time there wont actualy be cake and its sole purpose should be to anger gamers everywhere and force them to search for it everywhere despite it doesnt exist .

MEME's are funny for about 4 seconds, I don't think "children/internet idiots/grown men who should really know better" realise that all their doing is making a reference.

It was fun at the time during the experience, but go tell your grandmother the joke, seriously I tried and she was like "what dear?". Then she did what a french person is contracted to do in such a situation, she slapped me and told me never to be so stupid ever again.

I think GLaDOS should have some cake based revenge rather than promising cake this time. It would work well for the theme. I believe cake was as crucial part to the joke, otherwise it's jsut some person with a portal gun and a crazy AI that wouldn't have anything to be crazy about any more.

But to me the fact that it is a 4 year old meme is a reason to resurrect it. The Cake is one of the most famous parts of the original Portal and is one of the integral parts of gamer culture. Just the other day someone mentioned something being a lie and I immediately responded with "The Cake Is A Lie".

You see, there is a thing about it being a four year old meme: we heard it those entire four years! I do not want to go through it again. We are tired of it. Sometimes I wish portal didn't exist just because 4 years of suffering was not worth the 4-6 hours of enjoyment. This XKCD sums up our feelings really well. In the last panel the person on the left stands for the morons crying for this to return and the people on the right is everyone else.

No! NO MORE CAKE!. A sequel always needs a new flavor, not just same old Black Forest Cake.
I trust Valve would make a sequel as darkly humorous as the first Portal game, and with more potential memes.

I agree with him completely. "The cake is a lie" was just supposed to be a stupid easter egg. It wasn't funny the first time I saw it, and hearing it repeated didn't make it any funnier. I like that it isn't going to be in portal 2, because it's kind of punishing the people who would throw it out at any possible excuse.
