Seriously, lets put an end to all of this petty squabbling about whether or not Morrowind is in fact, the greatest game that has ever existed (It is). And just have Yahtzee review the damn thing!

He could do a Retro Review, similar to the System Shock Review he did recently. Anyone else want to see Yahtzee tackle the greatest game in the Elder Scrolls Trilogy?

What does his opinion have to do with Morrowind being the best or worst in the series?

OT: Sure why not.

He should retro review Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. I think that's the only one of his Super Awesome Games he hasn't reviewed (he already did Silent Hill 2, Half Life and Shadow of the Colossus).
As for Morrowind... I get this vibe wherein he's not a big fan of RPGs. I don't see the point in making him retro review something which he's not going to like in the first place.

Pretty sure whatever he said about Oblivion and Skyrim wouldn't be too far off from what he would say about Morrowind.

After what he said about it in his Oblivion review, it could be interesting.

Glastonbury Festival, here we come!

I really dont understand why we need his opinion to determine whether its the greatest game ever. I mean we all know the greatest game ever is Xcom: Enemy unknown (1993) so why bother? Oh wait thats just my personal greatest game ever choice.

I just dont get this idea of needing recognition for enjoying something. If you like a game go play it and enjoy it. If you dont like a game dont play it. This isnt a new game, Morrowind was released back in...I think it 2002. I think its pretty clear that some people think its an excellent game and some people think its horrible. Im in the middle camp where I think its ok without mods and amazing with them. 11 years later I do not need any critics recognition to enjoy the game and you all shouldnt either

Could he or any critic retro review it to say how things could have been done better? Absolutely. However no one needs a simple yes or no to validate whether they like the game or not and any retro review doing such a thing is a bit late to the bus since theres been 2 sequels since then

What do you think he will say about it that he already hasn't said about Oblivion and Skyrim? I mean other than the graphical step down from the other two.

Elder Scrolls Trilogy?
Might I point out that there are 5 (numbered) Elder Scrolls games?
I am talking about the "Holy" Trilogy, which most ES fans consider to be Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. Hell Redguard is barely considered cannon!!

Also to another commenter who said "Why do we care about Yahtzee's opinion, why do we need his validation?"

Simple! It is because he is someone that has a very well formulated opinion, and it would be very intriguing to hear what he says about systems like Combat, and Cliff Racers and whatever else. Just to see if he thinks the game has stood the test of time, like He said for Half-Life, and need I remind you he found tons of flaws in Half life as a "Modern Game" also!

Yahtzee already gave his general impression of Morrowind in his Oblivion review. Despite only playing it for a handful of hours and comparing it to the Glastonbury Festival (whatever that is...pardon my ignorant Yank-ness), a text blurb at the end of the credits indicated that he quite enjoyed it, or at least liked it better than Oblivion.

If he did give it the full review treatment, I'd imagine his likes (more unique setting and open-endedness) and dislikes (clunky combat mechanics, cliff racers) would be pretty much what you'd expect.

I thought the 1993 one was called UFO: Enemy Unknown?

Video game franchises confuse me with their naming sometimes. :/

NO

We already have a load of Morrowind reviews and we know his opinion on Bethesda games like Fallout and skyrim. Let him do something new we haven't seen before.

I'd love to see it, but I think that Skyrim is better. I guess he would probably only do it if it gets an HD rerelease, which would be pointless since the PC version looks better than Skyrim due to mods already.

BTW, now you made me want to play it and I can't because I'm playing through Two Worlds II and I won't finish it anytime soon.

If he wants, and furthermore, Yahtzee's opinion isn't absolute, although it is cutting and hilarious.

Morrowind the best game ever? It came out years ago- normally I wouldn't say newer is better, but in this case...
I don't really like his retro reviews- I don't find them as funny as the games he reviews normally as he chooses to do the retro review, however the new release games are newly released.

And X-COM: UFO Defense in some places. Bit of a confusing title all around.

Why? With a comments section, there is literally no winning.

He liked it? Comments section is full of people calling him an elitist snob and saying his opinion is wrong.

He didn't like it? Comments section is full of screaming Elder Scrolls fans telling him his opinion is wrong.
I'm pretty sure there's more options available to him than just those two polar extremes. There are many shades of gray to Yahtzees cynicism. And I don't think Yahtzee particularly cares if what he says angers some people.
