All death is indeed tragic. Everyone has someone they love or someone who has love them.

I felt offended when everybody was celebrating Bin Laden's death, the thing is I don't believe in god, I think it's got something to do with human nature.

When an old classmate of 8th grade. Died of Cancer 16 years old. I couldnt help but feel sad when I got 17. I heard from my grandmother living in the same town how the father who owns a bike-store looked like he had not slept for days weeks. Maybe a month after it happened.

Most tragic thing is. She went out of school to get treated, they deemed her cured. Put her into school, and she died. Because there was still cancer.

I wouldnt say people should show sympathy towards all dead. But I think its alright to demand a little respect. I heard a guy as early as yesterday joking about the Rightwing Extremist Norwegian merely spreading the bullets amongst the kids equally. (They were left wing)

And that Amy had a little too much Wine in the House <_<. I mean this is one day after it happened and will be viewed as extremely disrespectful. And rightfully so.

I say no. Thousands of deaths more tragic than anything you'll see on the news happen every week (possibly even every day) in third-world countries... and your decadent life goes on. If those deaths actually move you, go do something about it. If not, stop getting sad over a few dead people in the news. Everyone dies.

I say no for 2 major reasons.
1. I'm a jackass when it comes to relating to others, and feeling bad for them.
2. Death is a natural part of human life. To quote Flemeth from DA, and gain additional nerd points, "Without an end there can be no peace." Imagine how overpopulated and miserable the world would be if no one could die.
And 3. There were at least a hounded people who died when I was typing this. Most likely a lot more. Now is that tragic?

death is where we will all reach. no death is tragic. death can be early, death can be ironic, death can be many things. but it is never tragic.

B) All death is tragic. Of course, spending a whole day moping about Amy Winehouse dying is a little ridiculous if you're not a massive fan, but at least show some respect.
...Amy Winehouse died? I'm not a fan, but I thought I would at least have heard about it. Shows just how removed from society I am.

OT: No, it isn't tragic, and it's remarkably selfish and pretentious for people who have suffered a loss to expect others to give a shit. I didn't expect anyone to care when my grandpa died. It would make no sense if they did, and the condolences I recieved just seemed insincere for that reason. Death happens. You deal with it, and you don't expect any special priveleges.

Captcha: life's too short.

It's crass to publicly express apathy for someone who has recently passed away. If people really didn't care, then I don't think they would feel so compelled to announce it. Rather, I think that such people are really seeking to dismiss those who do feel sadness with respect to the death. It's not cool.
Yes, but Amy didn't "Pass Away" she was taking an incredibly large amount of extremely illegal drugs over a span of several years whilst public flaunting the fact that she didn't want help.

Darwin Awards have more sympathetic circumstances than her.

Nope. Death is death. Everyone dies. It happens to good people and bad people. There's nothing tragic about it. Sure, people will have express their emotional ties to the person who died, but in the end. It was inevitable. Now where all death is...death-y, some are funnier and more-deserved than others. Especially stupid people. Because walking into an african savannah after ditching your guide and following your friend who fell out of a window are fantastic ideas. (cookie for the reference.)

Not all death is tragic. Not murder in self-defence for instance. And you can't let all deaths get to you, because you'd be very depressed all the time.

More than that, it's crass and immature to express open contempt for someone who just passed away (as Spoony did publicly via Twitter, and as many have done since). I understand it may be justified if that person abused you, but if you don't even know them then just shut up-you never even really knew them!

Lots of young people trying to prove how "bad" they are in this thread.

Not every death is going to be personally tragic to you, but every death is a tragedy to someone, probably even somebody pretty decent. To laugh in the face of someone's loss is to deny them the human sympathy you yourself would probably expect from others in similar circumstances. It's nearsighted and juvenile. Yes, death is natural. So is disease, or an earthquake leveling a city. Lots of tragic situations are "natural" to living on this planet. We shouldn't live in fear of them every day, but accepting pain and loss when it comes is an essential aspect of our humanity.

I like how people are jumping to extremes. "If I don't laugh off death callously, then I'm letting it 'get to me' and ruining my life dwelling on it!" I would expect people who truly "feel nothing" to not talk about it, because they don't feel anything and thus probably don't care. Bringing up a death just so you can say how much you don't care or hate the person who died (again, Spoony) isn't behavior I would expect from grown men and women.

Death of some random strangers isn't tragic, it's just how the world is.
Of course, if a close friend dies, it's tragic to me.

But some random bloke dying on the opoosite side of the world doesn't affect me in the slightest.

All death is not tragic. Sometimes...it's hilarious.

People have to understand, death is an eventuality. To me, death is the fairest thing in life. No matter who you are, what you do with your life or how you manage to eck out a living on this planet - you will eventually die. So long as people believe in the differences of the human race and in the different institutions they have created, people will continue to needlessly and meaninglessly destroy one another. The true tragedy is the human propensity to continue this path of self-destruction without heeding the introduction and application of rational and selfless thought.

Of course death is tragic.

Just because you're not personally saddened by it is no reason it's not tragic.

If you start measuring by that standard you end up with a very messed up system.

Things are only tragic if they're tragic to you? By extent:
Things are only good if they're good to you?
Things are only bad if they're bad to you?
Things are only happy if they're happy to you?

I'm sorry but if you don't believe all death is tragic for those reasons I'm going to believe you're an egocentric child.
