Poll: Showdown: Best online FPS

This one's for the title of king of online FPS gaming, between the two most popular multiplatform games of this genre: Team Fortress 2 and the Call of Duty series.

Edit: Well didnt notice the multiplatform mention so i guess ill substitute left 4 dead in exchange for halo, even though one could argue halo as multiplatform between xbox and PC as a technicality.

I vote for TF2 but I think that most popular is still classic CS.

Your right, my error. My apologies. I did correct, but I ask again, what about the battlefield series, Medal of honor series, Left 4 dead series, Doom, Quake, Unreal, Tom clancy series and plenty of other honorable mentions. And considering Halo 2 was fully playable in multiplayer on both xbox and PC it is technically multi platform.

You can argue most of these are as popular if not more than Call of duty seeings as call of dutys point of popularity has only reached the same level of most of these games only since roundabout the MW era.

Well, Counter-Strike was also on the Original Xbox as well as the PC, so I'd vote for that if i could, but I suppose out of those two I would have to go with Team Fortress 2.

Well, i'm going with the current daddies.
Honestly, I'm gonna have to go with CoD. While TF is fantastic on PC, it's not as good as CoD on console platforms. I know it's not the fault of the game or its developers, but I think thats where TF2 falls short. If updates were less restricted on consoles, and TF2 could do everything it can on PC on Xbox and PS3, it would win by a mile, but it's still bare and vanilla on consoles. It also lacks local splitscreen which CoD has.
As much as I hate to say it, my vote goes to CoD.

Even though TF2 is 100 times better than CoD the console versions of TF2 are abyssmal and nearly completely dead. Whereas all 3 versions of the last few CoD games are still going strong.

So unfortuantely, I gotta say CoD.

Counter Strike probably has had the most players and maybe still has the most players and every other FPS out copies its playstyle pretty much. TF and TF2 are great, but for me I cant play that style for all that long. I find way more diversity in CS.

On consoles its CoD and it should be BFBC 2, that game blows away CoD in every aspect.

I've seen this before.
CS is pretty basic. You have guns, you shoot people.
Every other FPS is not copying CS or they'd all be extremley similar.
Sure, there are some FPS games which are similar like MW2 and BF:BC2 but they're not copying CS.

Out of these two, Team Fortress 2 should certainly win. I don't think it's anything close to the best online FPS.

Actually, I don't know what the best multiplayer FPS is. I would like to vote for my personal favorite, but it's so little known that it's more of a 'local game with bots' FPS than an 'online' FPS.

I dunno, the best is probably something from the quake series.

I used to hate first person shooters. People would always recommend I play Halo or any of the MW games, but I never saw what was fun about them. Then I played TF2 on the PC and it was the first time I ever really got into an FPS. CoD is just awful anyway.
