I've played all the silent hill games and the newest one Shattered memories was very good but I wondered is this how the next silent hill game is going to be and is it a good idea?

Why should there by another one? Silent Hill2 is my favourite game, and I rather like the rest of the series (that I have played) as well. Why not let it rest and make something new, because I really don't think that the series can get any better...

There is no game called Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

There is however a title that sound very similar to Silent Hill, which features the same protagonist and plot from the first Silent Hill, BUT IT IS NOT A SILENT HILL GAME. It is completely unrelated.

(Seriously, why couldn't they have made Shattered Memories an original IP? Oh right, that doesn't make as much money)

I wouldn't know, I haven't played it due to my PS2 dying a painful death.

The world of video games is strange. Unlike when something dies in the real world--or film world for that matter--in video games a dead series is constantly brought back to life in order to stumble about for a few minutes before suffocating on it's own vomit and dying again. Silent Hill, Like Sonic the Hedgehog and Spyro, is a dead series. It hit it's pinnical with Silent Hill 2, and began a downward spiral. Continuing series like these only hurts the industry, because it outshadows other great games and developers who would have a chance to make great things if only it wasn't for greedy, money grabbing companies.

The first 3 games were amazing with #2 taking the cake.

But without the original team this series is dead to me.

Shattered Memories kicked all sorts of ass. I would like for Climax to add more to the psyche-profiling system, specifically the analysis of personal phobias rather than basic personality traits.

I think that Shaterred memories was a step in the right direction from homecoming and even though they will never have a game that is the same as 2, silent hill is still the best horror series out there

Unfortunately the game has been beaten to death and then some. Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams for Xbox changed my entire life but if it is not given back to some of the original people of Team Silent within Konami it will continue turning out like homecoming. It will still feel like someone saw the movie and decided that this would make a decent game.

Silent Hill: Homecoming > Silent Hill 2. I'm really not fussed whether the series continues as I've only played a couple of the games though. Maybe I'll rent Shattered Memories and see if thats any good.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I played 4 and it was generally boring.
I played 5... for about 10 minutes and realised I was wasting my time.

I don't believe there's anything they can do with this series to make it new and exciting again.
