Would your opinion be different if you were playing a woman?

No the cliched sexy female voices some games blurt out of my poor speakers are even worse but at least laughable.

there are times when it should be one and be the other, some games can be ruined by the main character having a voice and yet others are built off of it (e.g. grand theft auto, red faction guerilla, ect.)

True enough, sometimes i wish there was an over the top female character like Duke Nukem just for laughs.

i prefer my character to be talking, even in roleplaying gam,es where immersion is necessary. Games like mass effect for example where im telling the guy what to say, and im also hearing his voice.

yes voices are very important in rpgs but some rpgs are too big of a project to put in voices or didnt have time to (fallout) and some had a wider budget (mass effect) but yes voice is key in rpgs

We had enough faceless voiceless nameless dorks as a protagonists. It depends,but i prefer talking main characters,just because i'm tired of (anti)heroic mimes.

I don't fully know why, but i've always disliked the silent protagonist. Dialogue and voice acting are aspects of a game that i consider to be pretty important, so it just always seems a bit cheesy when characters are having one way conversations with the protagonist (unless there's actually a definitive reason for the characters being mute, though this is pretty rare).
