For those who have been paying attention to the forums here. The PC, Console debate has come up again thanks to a stupid comment by a member of Skyrims development team. They shouldn't have said that the game would be console oriented. The only response would of course be PC gamers fearing that they will get the shaft and end up with a bad port.

Being a gamer who has played on both PC and consoles. I just wanted to see what my fellow escapists prefer.

Also I would like to put a few good things about each as we post. I'll start

Pros

PC
MODS!!!
Better Hardware
RTS games are playable
Mouse more accurate

Console
Pick up and play
Some times cheaper
Don't have to worry about system requirements

Feel free to add cons as well.

PC, because I didn't grow up using a controller like most gamers did and so I find them awkward and uncomfortable to use. Also I'm a minimalist when it comes to possessions; a simple computer is more preferable to me than a computer, console, and TV.

I mostly play adventure games and MMOs anyway.

To end this now:

PC gamers insist their region of gaming is more "Secure" due to the fact not everyone has a well-equipped PC to game on. This in turn filters out any "undesirables" and creates a more fluid community.

In reality: The community is more accessable due to being online for everyone to reach. Even if it is pay-to-play, more people have a computer than a console. This creates interest in the game in more people, meaning that despite the connectivity and power of their computer, they will probably play it. This creates lag on servers and crashes, ruining the community. And due to these people trying to keep their community pure, play Infamous 2. You are the embodiment of Bertrand, as you are what you are trying to fight against.

Console, I grew up playing consoles so a controller feels more natural to me. (I know you can play PC games with a controller too, but I still prefer consoles.) And consoles usually have more of the exclusives I want.
I could build a gaming rig, but the difference in graphics and processing power and the like isn't something that I'm too concerned about.
Mods would be nice, but again not really a deal breaker to me to not have them.

I just prefer consoles, even knowing that PC is in many respects the superior system.

I prefer console. I, like many others, have played with controllers much more then mouse and keyboard, and therefore the controller feels much more natural. The main reason for that is due to the fact that we never had a good gaming computer growing up, even if my family were some of the early adopters. We did, however, have a couple of arcade cabinets in our basement. We then moved to home systems when they were released, and I've been playing console games ever since. So I grew up with the controller, and that's why I like it better.

On another note, I've never agreed with the statement that the mouse is more accurate. I've found the opposite to be true in my case. Mice always have worked horribly for me.

I have been trying to get into PC games though. Mods were the big reason for that, but... to be honest, most of them don't seem worth the time. In fact, I only have a couple of mods, mostly class mods for Oblivion, installed on my PC.

One more thing that I should mention is the 'better hardware' aspect. While that is 100% true that computers can have better hardware (and if it's a gaming PC, it SHOULD have better hardware), there's a couple things I have wrong with that idea. The first is that the hardware is expensive if you want the new stuff, and it's normally useless within a year or two. The second is that games really don't need to get much better graphically in my opinion. I've heard this stated by a lot of other people as well. Graphics are about at their peak at the moment for what they need to be. If companies keep focusing on that aspect, then games will continue to suffer (I do blame the continued need to improve graphics for the fact games aren't very good, even though I'm a 3-d modeling major. Companies put so much money into graphics that other parts suffer, in my opinion).

That's not to say either is better then the other. They're both good for different reasons, and the 'fanboys' for any system, including PC, annoy the hell out of me.

I prefer consoles because that's what I grew up playing and that's what I'm good at. I do play PC games from time to time but I find the mouse and keyboard to be a little hard to control and I prefer my controller to the mouse.

I prefer consoles because they are a heck of a lot easier to jump into. But I still show my pc some lovin' every once and a while.

The history of Bethesda's releases is shaky at best. If you're hoping to get this game the day it comes out, then I would suggest getting the PC version. There is always an annoying bug to accompany the release of every Bethesda game that will be solved by the modding community within the first 36 hours. That's just part of Bethesda.

If you're not that impatient then you can wait a month or two for the patches to start flowing for the Console versions.

It all comes down to patience, I think.

If PC games weren't so damn ridiculous spec-wise I would play more of them, otherwise consoles before they were marketed toward children and old people had the best games and were easier to anthropomorphize like my darling ps1.

If PC games weren't so demanding on PCs, more people would use them.

But luckily, some of us are willing to spring for Alienware.

PC, largely because I cannot stand controllers. They feel clumsy and imprecise, and they make my hands hurt after a short time of trying to use one.
I also don't watch much TV, so I have a shitty old CRT as my TV. It would cost way too much to buy a decent hi-def TV to play a console on, so for me console gaming would actually be more expensive than PC gaming.

I prefer consoles. I started gaming with consoles and controllers are more comfortable than a keyboard and mouse. Plus, I don't have a strong enough PC to play most hardcore PC games. Consoles are just easier.

You forgot the most important thing: Play on your huge plasma TV lying on the couch.

That's the only advantage of the console except some exclusives I want to play that makes me even consider buying one if I ever have too much money.
I do that with my PC.

OT: I personally use both. I prefer a PC.

When buying a game, I will consider both but when it comes down to it, the two main factors I weigh against each other are, play with friends (console) vs mods (PC)

Personally, there's nothing the console can do that PCs can't do better for me. Even with a ported game (as long as it's done right), I can still enjoy it and change various variable of the experience.

An HD projector can display a larger resolution than any T.V. out there (as long as you have a free wall).

Sound systems are pretty much even.

My office chair is more comfortable then my couch but that's a personal level.

The only advantage I give to consoles is that it's easier for multiple players in the same room to play. Also, PCs tend to have more technical issues than consoles (generally) which, if you're not prepared for, can be a point against PCs.
