As time goes by, I notice a lot of games that is either Single-player or Multiplayer only, or the game features both modes but one mode completely overshadows the other? Do you like to play with your friends or other people, or do you prefer to play alone because you don't want to deal with all the multiplayer cliches (squealers, trolls, lags, hacks, etc) ?

Being multiplayer only was what instantly killed all my interest in Titanfall, Destiny, and Evolve. I'll never buy a game that I have to play with other people.

The only exceptions to this were games that were either free (games with gold, ps+) or were bought by someone else. For instance my brother bought ESO and I've had some fun with that, Though I've been soloing it so far. And I had some fun with Gotham City Impostors when it came up free on Games with Gold.

Only multi-player? Take it away. I can work well with others, but that should be optional.

Single player, play for as long as you want, all you want.

Multiplayer with friends has scheduling concerns. People only want to play for so long and at certain times, and a consideration has to be made for what kind of a pace they want to play it which can often differ from your own.

Multiplayer online PvP gets wearisome. I've played over 4100 hours of Team Fortress 2, but there's only so much you can take at once with that. The nature of it is constantly demanding.

But you get this insistence from short-sighted people that good single-player games have to have multiplayer or Co-op. It's fine they say, because "it's just optional." No matter how many times they're told that it significantly affects how much effort can be put into the single-player experience, they don't want to hear it. Dumb dicks won't shut up about how they want Fallout 4 to have Co-op. Shoehorned multiplayer is a blight. I know this has nothing to do with games that are exclusively one or the other, it's just been pissing me off lately.

The problem with multiplayer-only games is that, once the community no longer exists, or the company shuts down the servers, the game is effectively useless. My store, Target, is still selling a few brand-new copies of MAG for the PS3. You know, that game that no longer works because the servers were shut off?

Single player games you can play over and over. Having multiplayer or co op in them is nice, but if a game is ever just straight multiplayer, I will avoid it. Special exception to Star Wars Battlefront.

A game's gotta have a substantial single player component or I'm just not interested.
Has anyone figured out what's happening with Battlefront in that respect yet? Can you play singleplayer at all? Or is it just that there's no story mode?

I can play both whenever I feel like because my computer's hard drive has enough room for more than one game.

Crazy, huh?

One or the other but not both.

Dominantly single player games with multiplayer features tend to have crappy multiplayer features, if not obtrusive.

Dominantly multiplayer games tend to have really crappy single player segments.

If I want one, I'll play the one I want. Don't try to shove both in my face.

If I had to choose one I'd go single player. I can still enjoy Morrowind, I never did enjoy Titanfall. But a game that did both well was CoD4, so all hope is not lost. It's just with devs being so fucking lazy nowadays and pubs knowing they can sell 1/3 of a game at half price we're likely to never see a full experience again. Shame.

I either go single or I go mingle... But, I never just mingle, yet I always go single, you know? That's just how I game, yo...

Other than that, as much as I don't mind not having a multiplayer option in the singleplayer game, but I do mind not having a singleplayer option in the multiplayer game almost most of the time...

Somewhere, locked deep within my subconscious, is a schema that represents the furthest a human brain has ever come to truly understanding the sanity-destroying concept of infinity.

It is currently labeled "the degree to which I prefer single player games to multi player games". If I wanted to play games with friends, I would befriend the NPCs, thank you. Somebody should, after all.

Doesn't it get annoying having to switch out floppy disks all the time?

In all seriousness, I prefer single player. I've tried multi-player but most of the time I don't like the people I end up playing with(and my friends don't play the same games I do), so it doesn't hold much appeal for me. Not to mention the fact that I can play single player at my own pace, when I want and ideally, a single player game I buy today will still work in 10 years.

I will always prefer single player but even multiplayer games can be fun with a bit of single player. I'm annoyed that they removed bots from the battlefield games. This probably means that Star Wars Battlefront won't have them either. Bots can be fun for some times all you want to do is get into a Tie fighter and start blowing stuff up with little getting in the way.

As a lot of other people said, single player. I like TF2 and I used to have a lot of fun playing DC Universe Online, but truthfully, most of my favorite games are single player with multiplayer as an added side option. While taking out multiplayer would take a bit of the fun out of those games, they'd certainly still be my favorite games.

I never play multiplayer by myself (as weird as that sounds). Only if I'm playing with a friend do I even think about doing multiplayer.

There are very few games with a lasting online component. SP over MP, because I want to be able to go back to games I like.
