Apologies to TheRockerfly for the quote notification that has now been edited out, but this topic makes me far too angry to construct level-headed arguments and not simply devolve into flaming, so I'm bugging out while I can.

Male or female?
Female.

Are you trying to achieve size zero?
No, and never.

Why/Why not?
Because I'm already a UK size 6 and fairly happy with how I look (I would certainly not want to be any slimmer); not to mention that to me, a size zero just looks extremely unappealing, which is a more polite term I used for 'more than a little freakish'.

What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero?
I think that if somebody is naturally that size -- rare, but it happens -- then that's fair enough (and I've noticed that somebody born naturally thin is usually a lot more in proportion and actually less bony than those who deliberately lost weight to gain that size).
However, if somebody purposely exercises and diets to be a size zero...each to their own, but I can't help but think every time that whether they realize it or not, they are blind to their own opinion and conform to what the media's perception of 'beauty' is. After all, they can't be doing it to make themselves look more attractive to the opposite sex (unless they're disillusioned), because it's been shown time and time again that the majority of people simply don't find it appealing in the slightest. The only other reason is that they see size zero as something that expresses them and what is 'right' for them, but again, media and society have probably played a part in that too.

What's your view of others who have achieved size zero?
Again, most of what I said above: if they've purposely lost weight for it, then I can't help but consider them sheep rather than discovering what they personally find beautiful. I just can't respect people who follow trends like that.

And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive?
To me, it isn't in the slightest, on men or women. One, I like my men healthy and toned, and two, I'm straight, but I think women look prettier with curves -- no matter how small -- than being a straight line.

So, to the questions:

*Male or female? - Male
*Are you trying to achieve size zero? - No
*Why/Why not? - A lot of reasons. The three most prominent being: I'm not very attractive while starved(I have been "size zero" before), It's not very healthy and I can't do my job while starved.
*What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero? - Good luck with that. Everyone is free to do what they want.
*What's your view of others who have achieved size zero? - uhm... Good job I guess? As long as the person is happy with it, it's all-right.
*And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive? - I can't really say. It all depends on who it is I am judging. It's fitting to some, and unfitting to others. BUT... statistically speaking, I'm more on the side of it being unattractive.

Male or female?

Male

Are you trying to achieve size zero?

No.

Why/Why not?

I'd be damn near death if I achieved size zero. Besides, I love my muscle mass and I'd rather not sacrifice it to look like Christian Bale in The Machinist.

What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero?

That depends. Is it within reason given their body types? If not, it's stupid. If so, it's a goal. Some girls are indeed petite enough for size zero to be not-unhealthy.

What's your view of others who have achieved size zero?

Once again, that depends on whether or not their waist sizes are appropriate for their frames. It's idiotic for those who were not built to be a size zero to pursue that goal, but those whose builds are compatable with size zero just happen to be thin, ergo more attractive than chunky women.

And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive?

That. Depends. See above. Size zero waists can be attractive if the girl with that size doesn't look like DmC's Donte (i.e. emaciated).

Amen to that. Size zero is rank, and the 50's had the best women.

- Male here.
- I'm not trying to get size zero.
- I'm slim enough as it is, in fact I'd prefer to have the time to go to a gym and eat more, and try to build up a bit of muscle. And I look fine the way I am anyway.
- I don't really see why they should want to, it certainly won't make them more attractive, but it's their body so they can do what the hell they want with it.
- Well, my mum's best friend from school (they're still really close even more than twenty years on) is naturally a size zero. Not out of choice, she's simply really small, and doesn't really gain weight. And she still looks quite good, and she's aging well. So size zero isn't a total bad thing, at least not for those who are so skinny naturally. But regarding people who are trying to get that size, if it isn't natural for them (which it isn't most of the time) then it's really unhealthy, as well as being a stupid thing to do. It certainly won't make them look better, they'll just be skin and bones mostly.
- I wouldn't say it's very attractive unless a girl is that size naturally. I prefer girls with some actual meat on their bones. And by that I don't mean fat girls, I mean girls who you can actually see when you look at them from the side. Whether a girl is slim or curvy, she'll be much more attractive if she's not size zero. In my eyes, at least.

OP's Questions

1)Male or female
2)Are you trying to achieve size zero?
3)Why/Why not?
4)What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero?
5)What's your view of others who have achieved size zero?
6)And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive?

1) Male

2) No

3) Because it's disgusting, moronic, and incredibly bad for most people's health.

4) In much the same way men compete appearance-wise by who has the biggest "guns", women compete with who has the smallest dress size. In other words, the male equivalent of a woman trying to achieve size zero is this:

http://mybodyclub.com/wp-content/gallery/bodybuilders/ronnie01.jpg

Dear. Sweet. God.

But at least that guy is going to be in relatively good health. Most of the size zeroes are probably going to look like dessicated cadavers once they've achieved their "goal".

5) I just had a brief talk about size zero with my sister (who is not a size zero, thank God), and apparently she knows a few women who have that size as their natural body type. I guess they're just really tall and thin and have a naturally fast metabolism.

That said, most women who try to achieve size zero need to get some self-respect. They're external validation addicts, whose self-worth is directly tied to what other people think of them.

6) As before, it's just gross. The most attractive body types are the ones who have nice curves. Like Christina Hendricks.

http://thedemoiselles.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Christina_Hendricks_Looking_Great.jpg

Yowzers.

But ultimately, what I like is a moot point. Women don't want to be size zero to impress men. Women want to be size zero because that's what most of the rich and famous women in magazines and fashion shows look like.

It's like men and dick size; most guys want to have a 12-inch penis, not because it's healthy, convenient, or useful. If you manage to even get that thing into a woman who's not a porn star, you'd better be willing to give her a ride to the gynecologist afterwords so they can stitch her vag back up. No, men want it because it gives you prestige points with every other guy around. It's about social status.

Obviously, there are better ways to boost your social status, like being confident, intelligent, and funny, for example, but some people are superficial (read: stupid) so what the hoo-ha?

And did you know there's even a size DOUBLE ZERO? Sheezus Christ! Don't tell the fashion models, or else we'll have a whole bunch of dead chicks on our hands.

On the plus side, they'll be pretty easy to bury. Save us some money on coffin space too.

...What?

Are you trying to achieve size zero?
God no
Why not?
It is gross, unhealthy etc etc
What's your view of others trying to achieve size zero?
Bleh let them be stupid if they want, but I'll have no part in it. Unless it's because of a serious mental disorder.
What's your view of others who have achieved size zero?
Congrats I have no attraction towards you :p
And most importantly, is size zero actually attractive?
Nope. Honestly skinny women as a rule tend to attract me less than average or even plump women.[/quote]

Obviously Not

Because there is not size 0 for men, and guys that skinny are odd looking anyway.

Trying to hard to follow a trend and usually very self conscious.

See above, except more determined.

I find it unattractive because curves are one of the main things that make girls attractive to me. Girls who are size 0 tend to have little to none. They also tend to be quite unhealthy for obvious reasons.

My thought: "Size zero, eh? Well, I don't know the women's dress size scale so I'll just do a quick google imag-OH GOD MY EYES"

That's a resounding negative Ghost Rider. People with eating disorders are not, and never will be, attractive.

I'm a dude, and I absolutely don't find size zero even slightly attractive. I like my women soft, cuddly, and cute, attributes not commonly found on overly skinny girls. I'd rather date a size 14 than a size 0.

Well duh. You don't expect the fashion industry to just stop at ridiculously unhealthy, do you?
