Ska is reggae at twice the speed.

I don't really like it. It can be good sometimes, but tons of horrid punk bands doing cheesy ska songs where I live have kind of ruined it for me. There's a big ska scene in my town and it's mainly made up of teenagers who do horrible pop-punk butcherings of the style that would make Jamaicans cry.

Also, this is obligatory:

It's a pretty decent ska song in itself, made as a half joke (that whole 90's ska revival bullshit was infact, bullshit). Gotta love Propagandhi, probably the most intelligent guys in music.

The only ska (well, two-tone) band you ever have to listen to are The Specials. They only ever made two albums (and some extra singles) but what they did make is damn near perfect.

Reel Big Fish is great Ska. If I recall, Less Than Jake has some Ska tracks as well, you should check them out.

Streetlight Manifesto is quickly becoming a favorite band of mine. And, yes, they are Ska
Sure is a lot of pop-punk in this thread.

This is ska.
Nice eltism there. Third Wave is still ska! And Streetlight aren't even remotely poppy.

Personally I love most third wave, I haven't listened to much older stuff bar The Specials or Madness.

I've heard of it, I like a few sublime songs.

It's not that good, but it's not that bad.

I like some local ska bands that none of you will have ever heard of, but other than that I'm mostly a metalhead

I like most 3rd wave, and some Madness, prefer the Specials though.
It makes me epically happy. Reminds me of summers when I was a kid running around chucking girls into swimming pools because I couldn't talk to them that well.

Judging by the various videos that people have provided, it sounds alright, it strikes me as an odd mix of jazz and punk rock and...i'm not sure what. It's fine, i would happily listen to it but i doubt i would get into it.

Always amazed on labels within music industry and among fans. I like bands, some of those bands are ska, so sure, I like that. Fun concerts, good energy and fun (an acquired taste) pits often.
