If you had the option of 'skipping' the next 10-15 years of your life, ending up 10-15 years older in probably completely different circumstances to now (for example, new job/uni education/wife/partner/children etc.) would you do it?

You would have the memories of those 10-15 years, but have no direct control over the decisions made (you've just got to hope your brain made the right choices), and won't directly experience anything that happened in that time.

I personally wouldn't, and I don't see why anyone would want to, unless they anticipate the next 10-15 years to be full of crap. It would suck knowing things have happened to you that you have no idea what they were like.

But if you have the memories how would you know you didn't experience it? All we are is our memories and our DNA. Who's to say I haven't already skipped the last 10 years of my life and I have just had the memories implanted?

Now, lets all watch Total Recall

No way. I love the way my life is now. Skipping say, 15 years of it takes away 1/5 of your lifespan (assuming I reach the average male age of 75 or so).

I couldn't skip 1/5th of my life, no way.

I'm unsure. Where as I'd like to think my brain would make the right choices, I don't think choosing a life partner should be done with cold logic alone.

Ah, to hell with it. Why not?

Of course not you idiot! I'm only 18! If I skip my life when am I gonna enjoy life? In my 70s??
No need to be so touchy, you can enjoy life no matter how old you are (besides, skipping 10-15 years when you're currently 18 would not make you 70 years old).

Personally, I wouldn't.

Ever heard of exaggeration? Anyways I'm just sayin' that 20-30 is kinda like the peak of life, imho, so I don't want to miss out on it! Oh and you can't do extreme crap when you are 70. I know they are a lot of healthy people in that age but I sure won't be one of them!

Na, i wouldn't. I'll admit that i would just like this part of my life to be over...But i really don't want to skip any of it for some reason.

And yeah, you actually hvae a really good point there. That's another reason why i wouldn't skip years of my life, it might just leave me to confused.

Maybe, if my brain could do the right thing it would get me through some problems that are eaiser to skip that deal with.

Only if I got a 15 year prison sentence or whatever
in that situation, yes, but generally no. i would like to be able to go forwards to see how i end up in 15 years time but then could come back to the present but i wouldn't want to skip it all together.

Heck no, I wouldn't trust my brain to handle things by itself, also I have a bit of a fear of losing time, like waking up late in the morning, all that time gone to waste.

I was really interested in the topic because I thought this was about "Spaced". Damn your misleading topic name.

Are we talking "Click" zombie mode or I'm making the choices that I would have made if I was concious and fully aware?

10 years! Hell to the no. I'm perfctly happy with the way things are going for me. Also, these are going to be the best years of my life, probably.
