I did enjoy siding with the Blades for a bit, but Paarthurnax and that other dragon you make friends with are way higher on the scale of ultimate cool friends than the Blades.
Additionally, I don't like the "go kill that unique, interesting and helpful Elder Dragon, or I won't speak to you no more" approach. It would also feel like betraying the Greybeards, which would make me some ungrateful, backstabbing commie tool, really. Can't have that, now, can we.
When I first bumped into this "surprise", I felt bad about having brought them recruits, and I still feel like maybe the Blades aren't that useful in my very own Skyrim universe after all. I'll go check if they can be killed. If not, I'll check what happens if I instakill them over the console. With such a crap attitude, they better be mortal.
Oh - Yes, even after two complete playthroughs, my list of in-game assholes still grows. Fascinating.
