Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica are the big four metal bands? I always thought Iron Maiden had a pretty heavy following.

Anyway, I'm more inclined to go with Anthrax. I'm not really sure why though...

anthrax always made very progressive music, they tried new things (compared to slayer at least)

but slayer does what they do, and they do it very good, and of course,SLAAAAAAAAAAAAYER is the battle cry for every metalhead.

but I'm going to have to go with Anthrax, because of the bass solo on got the time.

I guess that makes sense. I just found it confusing to miss out other popular metal groups, that was all. Sorry.

Anthrax is okay for a few songs, but if you want real in-your-face thrash metal, turn your attention to Slayer. Their fast riffs, and screaming vocals destroy Anthrax. Both are awesome bands, but Slayer is far superior.

In before Marter saying "No versus threads".
Hey!

If I was going to do that, I would have when this topic first popped up. I decided not to. This time... ^_^ I would also say "No Vs. Threads Please"

OT: I don't know who either band is.

Slayer, I was just raised around more Slayer than Anthrax. Was raised more on Metallica than either of them though.

It's not difficult to make a thread like this that isn't such a blatant versus thread. Just change it a little from "which do you like more" to "what are your thoughts on these". Hell, maybe even open it up to more than the four bands.

Slayer. Something about Anthrax's production always annoyed me... probably that they stay at the same volume for entire songs.

Slayer. Heavier and faster, and they dont share the name of some deadly bacteria.
Actually after the World Trade Center attacks and associated Anthrax-by-mail scares, the group Anthrax did enjoy a slight resurgence in popularity, simply due to all the free advertising they were getting. All these new metalheads started going "wow, we didn't know there was a band called Anthrax!".

In reality the Anthrax attacks were actually just kids riding by on skateboards with their volume turned up a little too high.

Slayer, but I don't really know any songs from Anthrax, so I suppose I'm quite bias.
