I generally run from 6-8 hours of sleep a night, with about 2 more on weekends. I think that study's kind of funny though, as I have friends that average 5 hours of sleep a night that don't even have bags under their eyes.

I sleep maybe three, four hours a night if I even sleep at all.
Frequently I am hit by debilitating bouts of insomnia that can last up to a week.
All of the sleep I do have is shallow and leaves me completely unrested. Usually I do not even sleep deep enough to achieve REM.

My sleeping habits are totally healthy, guys.

I sleep 12-13 hours a day. Though apparently sleeping more than 8 hours can give you some pretty detrimental effects as well. You just can't win!

it's 4:40 AM and I can't sleep, doesn't bode well for a solid eight hours tonight.

Margaret Thatcher reportedly slept 5 hours a day while Prime Minister, and as far as I know she is still alive, but then she also regenerates daily by consuming the soul of a Welsh miner, so that may not be the best model to follow.

My sleep doesn't count as sleep for the most part... I drink often which messes w/ your sleep cycles and the level of sleep you get while you are asleep. So the actual hours I sleep are not indicative to the amount of rest I get.

Playing WoW isn't the only reason for sleeping less than 5 hours...

I work late, and get up early to drive my family to work.

I had all of those (well some of them) when I was working night shift, night shift was never for me and I know that now, I need a good nights sleep, might just go to bed now, so sleepy. So yeah, I was feeling down and couldn't sleep at all when getting off a shift from the grave yard shift.

Apparently even as a child I didn't sleep much, I tend to get about four hours of sleep a night and yet I function better than I do when I get seven or eight hours. Sleep really does depend on the individual, some need more, some less.

On weekdays before work I get about 6 and on weekends my average is 10-12. I do get pretty grumpy when tired. I'm the opposite when it comes to appetite though, I don't feel hungry at al when I'm tired.

I usually sleep about 7 to 9 hours a night. That's probably why I'm in such a good mood a lot of the time. :D

Sleep is a pretty personal thing. Some people can function energetically with like 5 hours, some are basically zombies if they get less than 8. I fall into the latter category. I need a pretty specific amount of sleep. 9-10 hours is ideal. More or less, and I feel like crap.

I'm not really sure how to answer this poll. Do I get enough sleep regularly? Generally, no. Not even close. Right now, having received my degree but not having found a job yet, I'm finally consistently getting enough sleep every night, and I feel absolutely awesome.

I sleep enough, sometimes a little too much, I think.

Your avatar is cool, OP.

I have really bad nightmares so I will put off sleeping until I actually can't move and collapse into bed. I don't think that's a good thing and probably makes stuff worse. I also tend to sleep when no one is around or I can lock myself in my room or house. It's hard for me to sleep well as I wake up at the slightest noise. I can't sleep when other people are there it freaks me out. According to my mum I used to play in the dark at night so maybe I'm just a night person I dunno.

I actually don't get even close to enough sleep, maybe 5-6 hours a night on weekdays. However I don't have any of the symptoms of sleep deprivation mentioned by the OP. Not usually anyway.

I generally sleep a solid 7-8 hours a night. If I can get away with it, I'll grab up to 9 or 10, but those situations are relatively rare.

I only get around 5-6 hours each night, 7 if I have a free period first thing the following day. It's enough to get me through the day, but I always find myself oversleeping on the weekends, and no matter how many hours I give myself on Saturdays and Sundays to 'catch up' on sleep, it's never enough. This is probably disastrous for my health, but I'm young and relatively not-dead-yet so I'll stick it out until I've finished Year 12.
