Eh, technically both.
I actually own a 3DS so I'll be getting that version for sure. But technically the little brother owns the WiiU and he and the folks moved halfway across town last week. So I'm thinking, "let the mother buy the WiiU version since sadly I'll hardly get to play it." Though since it might come out in November and not near the Holiday season, I'll probably buy it anyway since the mother is probably more concerned about furnishing her house than buying a game.

Either way, I'm still going to steal the WiiU version's Nintendo Club code for the Smash Bros. OST.

Easily the wiiu version. I don't imagine the 3ds version being comfortable to play on at all, and with the knowledge that the game is actually wrecking circle pads, there is no question in my mind. But I'll give the 3ds demo a try tomorrow, see if its any good.

Pretty much hits the nail on the head, plus it's the perfect kind of game to play on my break at work, the demo has already proved that to me.

3DS. If/when I have a WiiU chances are it'll be got on that too but while I don't (and have nothing else pushing me to get one) it's for the DS. Plus, portable smash.

For me it's either going to be both or neither. If the game is good enough I'll want a to-go and a party at home copy. Without the story mode, which was one of my favorite parts of Brawl, I'm not sure how much i'm going to enjoy New super smash bros

3DS version, due to not owning a Wii U and the 3DS version handling surprisingly well. Seriously, this is a damn impressive port, it's worth the money.

Wii U 100% chance. I might buy the 3ds version, but I don't think I will. I got to get a game cube controller adapter and 2 controllers so I will already be sinking around $120 into this game. I don't think I can justify $150 for a single game to myself.

3DS version, as I don't have any next gen console at all, and I'd probably plan to buy a PS4 before a Wii U. Besides, seeing as they showed you can get rid of that stupid outline on the characters in the options, the graphics look fine, and aside from a shift away from the beloved Gamecube controller, it doesn't look to be any worse. I watched a livestream of Smooth McGroove playing the Japanese 3DS release, and it looked pretty damn awesome.

I will probably get both eventually. I think it will be the game that will persuade me to get a WiiU!
As it sounds like you're gonna grab the 3DS version ASAP, 1v1 me, bro!

Wii U. For two reasons:
1. While I'll take basically everything else on a portable over a console, I prefer fighting games on consoles. Easier to handle multiplayer with my friends when all they need is a controller rather than a separate game system and additional copy of the game.
2. I played the 3DS demo, and the circle pad is so awkward for it. I think I'd very much prefer a real analog stick for this one.

Seeing as I am a broke-ass student, I can't afford a WiiU, unless it's bundled a few months after launch. I already have a 3DS, so I'm downloading that at midnight.

Also, I can play smash on the bus. ON THE BUS. SMASH.

I don't own a WiiU so I will only be getting the 3DS version. I am interested to see how well this plays on the handheld.

3DS since I don't own an WiiU which I probably should since I think it will be handle better on that version (and I read that the analog stick come off from too much ssbb).

Both. I don't find the 3DS controls as bad as some people make them out to be, though I do hope the final release lets you change movement controls to the D-pad. I also think the 3DS version will get a big boost once the New 3DS is released thanks to the C-stick. As for the Wii U version, well it has been said that Smash is at home on consoles. Now I just have to decide if I want to invest in a Gamecube controller adapter or get one of those Wireless Fight Pads. I'm thinking of getting the Luigi themed Wireless Fight Pad to go with my Luigi Wii-mote.

I'll be getting at least the Wii U version. I don't plan on getting the 3DS version but I'm pretty certain I'll cave and buy it anyways.

3DS because it will be portable, it will come out first and it will have a mode I think looks interesting (everyone explores a dungeon fighting enemies and getting power ups for X amount of time then fight each other with the collected powerups).

and Wii-U because Smash will be better played on a TV with controllers with friends.

both I prefer the idea of playing it on a big screen more but the portability of the 3DS version makes me also want it
