I think in the two days I borrowed L4D from my friend, I used the sniper rifle once to target a Witch on a truck roof opposite to the roof I was on. Headshot did sod all. Still managed to run across the road and whack Louis one before downing her with the sniper. Wouldn't rely on it.

I use the M4 for my sniping needs, and that's also a lot more usefull when a horde rushes towards you, so I see no need to use the sniper rifle.

When I play, I like to mix up the hunting rifle and the M16/UZI. I just don't like the shotguns at all.
I can't stand the Uzi. Very inaccurate, low damage, no stopping power... ugh.
True that. It's shotgun or Hunting Rifle. Ohh hush now hunty, you'll get all the headshots you want real soon.

No use at all on left4dead
It certainly is when there are special infected in the distance that you couldn't possibly dispatch instantly with any other weapon, or when your team-mates are too far away and need aid.

Oh and also.

Single rounds do run through multiple enemies though, I've used that in a swarm situation and did fairly well with it. I guess it's a niche weapon with players on here it seems.

Its always great for those horde events. Not many people realise the sniper bullets can actually go through multiple enemies in a line. And when the horde comes running in a big line I grin and shoot.

It's my weapon of choice (when I'm done with the 1st tier Uzi). It instakills any common infected with one shot anywhere, it has awesome penetration and it is great against specials... sure it does not clean rooms with the efficiency of an auto shotgun, but hey, you can't have everything!

You don't use the sniper in a zombie shooter. That's like using a pistol on a tank (the metal kind of tank)

I always used to be a shotgun man but now I use the auto weapons mostly. I'll be using melee mainly on L4D2 I think though.

A sniper rifle requires a degree of finesse that I lack. Give me an assault rifle and I'll put up a wall of lead.

I mainly use the Hunting Rifle; mainly because I usually use my pistols against everything but hordes and special zombies anyways.

Yeah, I use it in single player on the church roof... thats it really.

On VS. noooooooo, terrible idea. And if I see you using it against me you can be sure I am gonna take advantage of that oppotunity, even if I am playing as the Boomer I will still go in for a couple of claws. :D

That's awesome? I didn't know!
Totals gunna try that tonight :D

I usually steer clear of the sniper cos I just don't think it's practical in a zombie situation unless you're gunna be camping in a safe house.
Like, you wouldn't choose a sniper in a real life zombie apocalypse right? You'd wanna choose something relatively light and reliable, perhaps a semi-auto hunting rifle.
Shotguns are plain silly imo - too cumbersome, ammo's too bulky and reloading can be dangerous in terms of time.
Yep hunting rifle, machete and maybe a small holstered sidearm for 'close encounters'...
oops, talk about going off topic ^_^

In summary - Sniper rifle for novelty use only, but I will try again just to be sure :)

and(can't start a sentence with and)
That's not true, starting sentences with and is perfectly acceptable, although it's kind of irritating when used in excess.

And on-topic (See what I did there?) I personally prefer be able to hold the fire button and watch everything die, but the Hunting Rifle is fun at times. I remember once trying to get over 100% accuracy on an easy campaign by not firing a shot until the hunting rifle came along and then only fire shots that would hit 2 zombies. It didn't work, but it was good fun.
