Its a comedy show.

Being Greek, I'm insulted by the way he pronounced Gyros

You walk around long enough anywhere you can find people that will answer simple questions wrong. I am willing to bet a number just mess up because the excitement going on around them. If you think it's just one guy standing there with a small camera would be horribly mistaken. There is an entire crew out of shot.

Honestly, I'm not surprised.
That's about it really, not much else.

Huh... was I supposed to be shocked or something?
Because I stopped caring after the whole "Cannae point out America on a Globe" thing.

Israel of course, the whole country time travelled back in time before they were created to colonize America, then their top secret Agent penguin King was defeated.

You think someone would have realized that. Maybe also realized that what makes it so funny is the smug sense of superiority you get from watching others flounder on what should be such simple questions. Also nobody can pronounce the name of that dish that American has basically devolved into gas station food.

You could fill a planet up with all the ignorant people we have here.

This isn't that surprising to me. There really isn't any benefit to most people to memorizing this stuff, so they don't do it. They can fix a car, or stop a leaky faucet, because to them that has value. Knowing the origin of Independence Day doesn't have any value to them.

Quite frankly, I guess I don't see anything wrong with that. Which is odd. It used to bother me.

"We'd all be eating heroes and falafel" is what I heard.

I've never heard a Greek American (or is that American Greek?) speak before, it would probably sound weird to me because I'm used to my families' and friend's Greek accents with a bit of Australian in it.

Its Greek American. My parents were immigrants. Neither my English nor my Greek has an accent either way. I did learn Greek first, however.

Ah, you're similar to my parents because my Grandparents were the immigrants who came to Australia (well my mother's side is from Cyprus) and my parents learnt Greek first. I can only speak a little bit though, enough to understand what my family who can't speak English are saying.

My Dad's Greek, his parents came here in the obvious time (the post - World War 2 Immigration influx) and my Dad and his sister learned Greek and didn't learn English until they went to school. I know enough Greek to understand around 1/3 of what my relatives are saying. I have an average Greek accent though.
