I fail to see how this is a comparison. D3 comes out next week, Torchlight 2 doesn't even have a release date yet.
From what I've most of the pro-Torchlight crowd isn't really going on the merits of that series but rather "WAAAAA! Blizz has DRM that me no likey! And they dare experiment with a real money auction house to replace an illegal real money trade that would have happened anyways! Therefore Torchlight is a better game! And it's cheaper therefore better!"
Yes, Blizzards always online BS is a bit annoying, yes the real money auction house is questionable, but those are not core game issues and reflect little on the actual quality of the experience of PLAYING THE GAME!
I've played Torchlight 1, it's pretty fun. I played the beta of D3, it was also really fun and looked like a worthy addition to the diablo franchise.
If you're willing to take a stand on your anti DRM principles and not buy D3, good for you, but don't go screaming that this other game that you haven't played yet is sooooo much better just because it doesn't have DRM.
