I won't buy it, but judging from the trailers it honestly looks like the most entertaining first person shooter in a long time.

Again, which expectations would that be? This game has received nothing but hate for 12 years. The only hype this game has generated has been from the past two months.

New and exciting thread...

But yeah, I'm expecting about an 7-8/10 kind of game. Just good fun and a solid fps.

I think it will be a game that seems better if you pick it up for a low cost. So no, I don't think it's going to be particularly good.

of course its going to be good, have you seen the certification! there's so much stuff on there they can barely fit it in the box.

It's been hyped for so long there is no possible way it can match our expectations.

Just hoping for a "good" game that is fun, no more, no less. Tis a great pleasure to welcome back Duke, he has been missed.

'Good', what is this 'good' you're speaking of?

Is it the culmination of professional review scores?
Is it the voice of the general public
Is it the overkill on Duke-related threads we will be seeing in the aftermath about people bitching whether it is pure genius or pure garbage?

I don't know if it will be 'good', all I know is that it will be fun - and fancy that, it's the only aspect that interests me.

I wonder if OP knows the quote from his poll is, like pretty much all Duke phrases, stolen from the character Ash in the Evil Dead movies.

From what I've read so far, it seems that once you get past the polygon sluts making out with each other and the polygon turd throwing, the new Duke is kinda like the old one...not really worth your time. Uninspired, repetitive, derivative.

I also don't get the nostalgia all these teens are having for a shooter that came out when they were fetuses.

You can pick up crap, and throw it.
It's going to be awesome.
Pretty much this.

Just the content shown in the trailers would probably make for a better game than what we've seen in recent months.

From what I can see, I think it'll be on par with a shoot such as Bulletstorm - a neat little fusion of FPS and Comedy. Hell, it may even be better. But when it comes down to it after its many many years of development, it won't live up to the hype that some give it. That said, I'll probably get it, from the looks of things it'll be a laugh to play through at the very least.

I think that there might be a few good LOL moments, but it's not going to revolutionize anything whatsoever. Rental at best.

I believe it will be "good", it has to be at this point, but not as good as some might expect of it. But hey the more silly shooters around the better so bring it on.

Only the presence of the Duke will be enough to make this game a classic of our time.
Hail to the King, baby!

In more serious news, I'm pretty sure it won't be all that good.
But hey, at least we've all been waiting for it for like 15 years, right?

I don't think it'll be good enough to justify the $80 price tag in the Steam store. Looks like I'll be waiting another year before buying my copy.

I know it will be good for some laughs, i'm more worried about it's staying power in this day and age.

It'll probably be average, whether or not standards will have dropped due to the prevalence of ultra-realistic shooters nowadays is a bigger question.
