screw dragon age. They monstrously screwed up dragon age 2 with homogenized replay dungeons and Final fantasy over the top fighting instead of sticking with the great game-play mechanics from DA1 and the npc conversation system (not the lord of the rings plot though from DA1). Baldurs gate enhanced edition is why people should be reeling about!

If they make a DA3, they need to mix the elements from DA1 with a semi-origonal plot from DA2.

I'm actually kind of hoping Dragon Age III goes the way of Mass Effect III, only even more dumbed down and insulting, just to taste the sweet Berserker Tears of all the fans.

Dude, the fighting in DAII was at least exciting. In DA:O it looked like the characters were LARP fighting, and if I wanted to witness a damn LARP fight, I would've just gone somewhere where a LARP was taking place.

Pfft, no. If Bioware wants to sell me another Mass Effect game they should NOT replace the guns with Swords and call it Dragon Age instead. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

I still think Dragon age origins was a great game and I still like Dragon age 2 (sorry, its not a perfect game but I just dont think it was the train wreck people claim it to be). I have several characters in DA:O that are memorable and I loved most of the companion characters, especially Shale and Alistar.

So do I care about it? Sure I guess, as much as anyone can care about a game they arent currently playing (Im playing Fallout NV ultimate edition right now).

So why is it that a later game in the series has somehow made the prequel so awful for you? I can understand an ending ruining a game but another game ruining a game is an alien concept to me

Uhm, I do. And I love DA2. Also, I prefer DA2 to DA:O, because I'm Hitler I guess. So yeah I really care about it.

I just don't like auto-attack. 2 had the all around superior battle system. If they wanted a more turn-based thing, they should have made a turn based RPG, or some hybrid, like the middle Final Fantasy games, like IX.

Yes, I still greatly care about Dragon Age (and Bioware in general) and am waiting with excitement for them to talk about the next one.

Did Dragon Age 2 have problems? Yes, of course but it took some risks and I'm curious to see where they decide to go with it. Like most Bioware games, it is very likely that Dragon Age 3 will get a pre-order by myself and we'll see if that is the right call in a few years.

I'm certain that had Dragon Age 2 been called something else, it would have gotten medium-high reviews (8's or so) by most people but it was so different from Dragon Age 1 that people expected much much more. Is it fair for them to expect so much? Maybe, maybe not but DA2 by itself is not that bad of a game.

Don't forget, critically, it was almost universally loved. In face, The Escapist here even awarded it 5/5 stars.

I can say I care about dragon age orgins (although you can win pretty much half my approval by letting me play as a dwarf, thus why I actually like D+D daggerfall) but I haven't played dragon age 2 yet, so I'm yet to decide whether the series has any "hope".

Although, if the mass effect 3 ending is as much of a "f*** you" as people keep saying, it would suggest that bioware as a whole is...how shall I put this...going off their gorram rocker.

I'm still buying Dragon age 3 , because i am a completionist with my games, once i start a series i have to end it. But seriously i loved Dragon age origins. and DA2 was fun to play if not GOOD. But i'll buy 3 just because i have the two others.

I care about Dragon Age: Origins. Still find it fun to replay from time to time. I don't give a shit about DA2. And since Bioware said that they'll stick with a voiced protagonist, I don't give a shit about DA3 either. In fact, as far as I'm concerned, DA2 never even existed.
This basically sums it up for me. I absolutely love Dragon Age: Origins and I still play it from time to time when I'm not trying to break up my backlog. Dragon Age 2 really wasn't all that great. I didn't like the voiced protag all that much because I didn't like his actual voice. And like Mr. Jensen here said, I really don't give a flip about DA3, either. At least, not if they're going to try "combining the best of DA2 and Origins." Because there was nothing good about DA2.

Meh.

I quite like Dragon Age: Origins. I think it's a fantastic rpg, far from the best, but a great experience nontheless. But that said I just don't like the turn Bioware has decided to take with the series.

Maybe Dragon Age 3 will be fantastic, maybe not. I don't know and don't particularly care right now either. If it turns out well maybe I'll give it a shot, but that's really the best I can say about the franchise at this point. Just don't care otherwise.

Not me at least, and I really liked the first one.

I tried to revisit it for another playthrough a while back, and just couldn't progress more than 5 hours in, due to knowing where the franchise ends up.

I just was pissed because of how different it was from DA:O.
What really amuses me about that is people always complain when sequels are too similar to the previous installments.

OT: Sure, why not. Dragon Age is one of the few tactical party-based RPGs I've been able to really get in to and finish, and I've enjoyed both Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3, so I don't have any problems with Bioware, no matter what EA might be doing in the background. Unless Dragon Age 3 turns out to be a mail-sorting management sim, I'm probably going to have fun with it too.

Yeah I'm still interested. Dragon Age Origins remains one of my favorite games and while the mixed bag that was Dragon Age 2 may have weakened my enthusiasm, I still want to see what happens next.

Thought the first one was meh so I don't actually know how screwed up the second one was. In fact, I'm still trying to figure out why Origins still has people gushing. It's like they took generic fantasy and marinated a game in it.

EDIT: Yay, 2000 post! Kind of wish I spent it on something a bit more compelling...

I didn't care about DA until 2. Sure, it had it's problems, excessively recycled dungeons and whatnot, but hanging out with Hawke for 10 years was a lot more interesting than saving middle earth from generic evil yet again.

It was actually the massive technical issues with DLC content in DA:O that dampened my enthusiasm for the series - I didn't even bother playing the second game.

When it was working properly I enjoyed the first one well enough, but I didn't even get around to playing the Awakening expansion. I also started a second playthrough of the main game and got maybe a third of the way through before losing interest.

I don't think I've ever seen it as a big, long-lasting franchise that's going to rival The Elder Scrolls or anything. Frankly I'm surprised they made a second game, rather than just letting it go the way of a Jade Empire or Alpha Protocol...

*shrugs*
