Only thing I didn't really get into with the Human character that time was the crafting (though I did on the Auran character; maybe that was the difference). I did go round getting all the points of interest and stuff (I was at full map completion at level 12).

I'm just looking up some of the place names so I can explain this a bit better... The main content gap is in Altar Brook Vale, which is the bit between Shaemoor Garrison (the place where the intro sequence ends) and the Lumbermill (where all the wasps are and the champion wasp queen can spawn). I find myself finishing the garrison at level 5 and wanting to be level 8 to go on to the lumbermill. There's a bunch of DEs that all spawn on this one farm (at least three: bandits, harpies and the troll, there might be more), but they all seem slightly too high level for where they're at. There's two renown quests you can get (one is the militia training, which is listed as a level 8 quest for some reason), but they don't get you far by themselves. I feel like there should be a few more events around the area, or that the ones at the farm should be a couple of levels lower.

Asura Warrior + Sylvari Thief to start with. But since I have an entire week off, I'm sure I'll be spreading out aplenty.
Or maybe I'll spend all my time with cooking discovery ...

I'm going to play warrior together with a friend from WoW who I've known for a couple of years now.

He is more into PvP than I am,hence he is very hyped/giddy for this game because it is way more skill based than hotkey WoW is.

It's a slight "bummer" in my case that the preorder people start to play in advance 3 days right when Dark Souls on PC hits, but I think I will be able to manage playing both.

I'll pick Sylvari as my race because I love the way they look, and I'll be a warrior so I can chop stuff up.

I want to be a mesmer. Messing with minds, making clones of myself, it all sounds pretty boss.

Not sure what race. Maybe an Asura. They're cute.

I honestly think A.Net built exploring/mapping the home city into their experience curve. Your early story quests send you there, so it makes some sense. I found after doing some city mapping I was much better situated...I usually started doing hearts and DE's at level 4 instead of level 2, and so I was level 6-7 heading into the areas you're describing instead of level 4-5. And yeah, I know the exact area you're talking about. The bandits in particular cycled so fast I felt like I'd be defending that farm for the rest of my life. The bears too. Of course bears are attacking! Look at all the honey you left out, you idiots!

Charr elementalist baldric(meaning brave, bold, powerful and rule, as well as being a black adder reference) enki (which is the lord of the earth in one religion and the lord of the sea in another), water and earth focused with sceptre and dagger and using 4 out 5 conjured weapons. Which means I will have 40 skill available 41 if you count the healing and 45 if you count healing and conjuring the weapons.

I think I'm going to make an Engineer Asura. Engineers just seem crazy, wearing a giant-ass backpack and unloading hell with turrets and dual pistols. Combine that with an Asura and it seems even crazier. I love the Asura jumping animation btw.

I'm also interested in the Elementalist. You have loads of variety since you can switch elements, so you don't get too bored with it. Also, I'm mainly going to use Wind so that I can play around as a Sith. >:3

Sylvari Mesmer for my first character! I actually can't really play at launch because I will be out of town that weekend and I still have to finish Persona 4 anyway.

I'm going Thief because of the PvP potential, we are making a 5v5 competitive team. And so far we have been rocking it out in the tournaments.

I'm feeling Guardian or a Ranger for an alt.

I was originally quite excited to play GW2. I was looking forward to playing both a Char Engineer and a Char Necromancer.

Then I started playing The Secret World.

I don't think I can play another MMO that ties me down to a single class again. However, the weapon/gear/skill loadouts in GW look promising.

We'll see.

Alas, the enormous flexibility presented early on in TSW sloughs away when you reach the end-game, as the number of viable decks gets pared down dramatically. I really don't know what they were thinking trying to cram a skill based/horizontal progression system into an old school tiered gear/dungeon treadmill.

Necromancer cause i was a warlock in WOW and i dig the whole life stealing stuff, or maybe a rogue because they are the easiest/OP/most fun to play with a bazillion escape mechanisms in every mmo.

Charr Engineer.
Why Charr? Because they're giant cats with horns. HORNS!
Why Engineer? The Charr basically started the 'industrial revolution' so it makes sense to play as the most technologically advanced profession.

I guess I'll see when I get there. I'm just getting into the Blue Mountains, so I've a way to go before I hit end-game.

My roomate and I are having fun toying with builds. We're liking how we can turn the classic party build on its ear.

That's one aspect of GW2 that I would like to investigate. It's claimed that it will do away with classic party roles, which I think would be great.

Thief
It's a huge improvement over the Assassin (my least favourite class from game 1).

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I'm gonna start with a charr warrior, I tend to start as a warrior in rpg games, next will be either a charr engineer or a norn or asura ranger. After seeing some of the animations and story stuff for the asura, I find them adorably awesome.

The pillars of damage and support are still there, although the general assumption in GW2 appears to be that the responsibility for both will be shared amongst all members of the party, rather than broken into specific roles. This is good in that it frees you up to play the class you want and not get pigeon holed into "tank specs" or "healer specs". It is bad in that you lose the tight interlocking relationship of tank/healer/DPS that formed the bedrock for 95% of all MMO encounters since EQ was launched. It was a system, and it worked. I suspect some people will miss it. Personally, after playing through TOR and finding constant tank/healer checks in the PvE content, I'm sick to the gills of it.

I really do wish Funcom had the cojones to stick to the offbeat with TSW. The setting, the skill wheel, the investigations...they had the making of something truly unique. Then for some reason it gets railroaded into Ye Olde MMO territory for the end game. I realize they had subs to retain, and that meant giving them a treadmill to run on, but I can't help feeling that their sales could've been much better if they'd just picked their niche and aimed to fill it, instead of going for a more populist, traditional model and then getting mowed over by GW2 and MoP. Their shareholder report was fairly dour, and the competition hasn't even launched their games yet.

I'm going to be rolling a Norn Mesmer, through I haven't fully decided what server I'm going to roll on.

Is server information available yet?
