I imported an early copy of Demon's Souls.
Or actually, I [i/]found[/i] an imported copy of Demon's Souls.

The reason I'm thinking it's so difficult is because people usually talk about how hard the game is and stuff. It all sounds very good, your post makes me want to import it even more.AC10 said:Really, it's not THAT hard. A few hours (or maybe more) into it you'll start to wrap your head around the game and what it's all about. Once you realize everything has rules and that you need to follow them, the game's inherent wall of difficulty mainly falls apart. Save for a few frustrating boss battles (which are only frustrating depending on your class) the game is very playable and offers an excellent sense of accomplishment.Thunderhorse94 said:No, but I am extremely tempted to import Demon's Souls at the moment and if I had the money to I definitely would. The game looks really good, I don't mind that there is a chance that I will unconditionally hate the game for it's difficulty.
I never, ever thought I could feel such a sense of achievement in a game from simply killing ONE single fodder enemy, but often times you do.
If your someone who likes RPGs (in a medieval setting) and finds most modern games too easy I think you'll generally like it. It's one flaw is that you will NEED to grind at some points. Aside from that, i suggest a through read through on the demon's souls wiki or to even purchase a strategy guide if you get the game.
You will also likely have to make a trash character to start. I sunk 15 hours into a guy to basically learn the ropes, then I started fresh with a new one. I was level 20 in my 15 hours of gameplay, on my second guy I reached 20 in 3 hours, so you can really see yourself improve.
Additionally, if you played any of the old roguelikes on the PC you're used to far more cruelty than demon's souls dishes out. At least when you die in demon's souls you keep your level and equipment, in old roguelikes it was back to the basics for you every time you died (in often hilariously scripted events). Bam you open a trap chest, you're dead, sorry - try again. Demon's souls does not have this.
I hope it did, because I think you should. It was a refreshing game for me, very unique (even if it did borrow from roguelikes). I don't want to lead you on, the game IS difficult, but it's a manageable difficulty and I feel a lot of people have been softened by modern games and simply forgot what it was like to have a game with actual consequences for failing. I think stern is a very good description of the game. It has a set of rules and follows them to the T. The "hardness" though comes from the fact that the games DOES NOT tell you these rules, they are for you to discover.Thunderhorse94 said:The reason I'm thinking it's so difficult is because people usually talk about how hard the game is and stuff. Again, I want to import it even more now. I will more than likely import it now when I get the money, thanks for all the advice.AC10 said:I hope it did, because I think you should. You will ALWAYS know that venturing into the unknown is dangerous, and if you fail to exercise caution it is your fault if you die. And you will die, there is nothing wrong with this. The fact that I can even complete a game now a days (say twilight princess) without EVER dying is strange. And even if I die in twilight princess, what happens? Nothing. A minor setback. In Demon's souls there is REAL consequence for dying, but it's not SO much that you just want to give up. "Oh I lost some souls, I can always get those back" kind of thing.
If you can accept that you will die, not get frustrated by it and more importantly learn something each time you die, you will love the game. The only time I was frustrated with it was with a certain boss. I attempted him TONS of times but could not beat it using melee and knew his patterns inside and out but simply felt incapable of beating him, even to the best of my abilities. I needed to exploit geometry in the room to get him stuck and shoot him with a bow (i don't really use bows) to beat him. Though to be honest, i figured if the game was going to be a dick I could be a dick back to it and not feel bad.
If you get it PM me to tell me what you thinkThunderhorse94 said:Again, I want to import it even more now. I will more than likely import it now when I get the money, thanks for all the advice.
Hot linking is not allowed the game... Different.Fox KITSUNE said:A long time ago in high school (well not that long ago) but it was this...

It had some subtitles but it was like the best experence I had in a fighting game and I'm proud to say I still have it in great working order.
