Often I'm reluctant to point out that (in pertinence to some personal experiences of mine) SOME feminists indeed give others a bad name, due to the possibility of knee-jerk accusations of misogyny etc :(

After encountering this blog, I'm speechless.

Of course, this doesn't apply to all feminists nor feminism itself (I know true feminists strive for equality.)

Just to note some examples according to some comments made by applicants...

Any woman who is attracted to a man (or even feels heterosexual) is due to the surreptitious institutionalization of white male supremacy, primarily established to maintain indirect domination over the minds of all women.

Men don't care about their children, wives, or any family relatives (even male relatives).

The admittance section utterly rejects the presence of men, as they?re "carnivorous necrophilia?s" that exponentially prevent meaningful conversations. (It's intended to be a private site. Fine... but wow.)

By sucking on the penis of a man, mental submission to masculinity is being unconsciously absorbed into the mind of the woman.

Finally, this is a link to an article on the site that criticises BDSM. I'll admit, it's interesting... but in my mind the comment section makes stratospherically ludicrous conclusions, considering the fundamental regulations of safety and unbiased gender roles that constitute the practice.

http://radicalhub.com/2012/04/02/on-50-shades-of-grey-and-the-erotization-of-male-domination/

So anyway, feel free to discuss.

Yes, yes I know? what do I expect from the internet (let alone a site called "radical" feminists.) Still.

So, a women doing something that she sexually enjoys makes her less empowered? That is some bullshit. While I don't want to fight on the side of EL James, that really makes no sense whatsoever.

I think it's the penis.

The penis makes me think dark thoughts.

It makes me do bad things.

[sub][sub]Also, 50 Shades of Grey? What, you thought the smeared toilet paper of the book world was a good point of study?[/sub][/sub]

Like women don't abuse their own sexual organs to gain control over other's minds.

I can see how they would feel the way they do about 50 shades based on what I have heard about it but it seems they often forget that BDSM goes both ways. Statistically yes there are more women who prefer to be subs as well as men who prefer to dom but the practices themselves go both ways and it is not gender specific at all.

I've almost finished reading it, I wanted to be included and I wanted to be able to say it was bad on good authority.

I was not disappointed. The woman cannot write, at all, even ignoring the plot and the terribly constructed characters. She loves the word 'beguiled' too. Oh, oh and the main character drinks Twining's English Breakfast tea, she always writes "Ana has some Twining's English Breakfast tea", never "Ana drinks some fucking tea".
Seriously, I'm basically at the end and she's still pointing out that her main character likes English classics and Twining's English Breakfast tea. Never mind how often she name drops classic literature she has obviously never read and... Okay, I'm going to stop now.

Well that's kind of... weird. Though it's called `radical`, so what can we expect?

Still, I do have problems with 50 shades of grey.
Not because it's BDSM, because it isn't.
It's a poor copy of BDSM that doesn't really understand what it is and also has an abusive relationship in it.
Also, it's funny to take the piss out of.
I recommend this: http://jenniferarmintrout.blogspot.co.uk/p/jen-reads-50-shades-of-grey.html

That sounds painful. I'm not sure abusing myself is worth the hypnotising powers that you get through the dark ritual of having a vajayjay.

You've made a great sacrifice for escapist kind...

Yeah, from what I've heard, the book is just terrible, like fanfiction written by a 14 year old.

Wow, those quotes are not very beguiling at all. Quite the opposite of beguiling really.

Erm, is it common for radical members of groups to actually label themselves as radical? That was sorta giving me the feeling that something is off about the whole site.

Yeah, it's decent fanfiction but makes a terrible book, if that makes sense.
One thing I did find entertaining is that for all of the graphic sex in the book I don't think she ever uses the words "vagina" or "penis". She even resorts to the term down there in italics.

No, they don't! If they did, they would have been indoctrinated already. I think their problem is that they don't suck.

You're welcome for that revelation.

Also, lol at the comments on that article:

So true. My daughter writes YA fiction and says that ?Twilight? has ruined the once-somewhat-feminist culture, spawning a whole subgenre of supernatural teen rape romances.
Although that's pretty cool

I was talking with a group of younger women ? late 20s to mid 30s ? about the Edward character in Twilight. I told them in so many words that everything about Edward screams ?creepy stalker guy who would probably kill you if you dared to break up with him?; you know, the kind you hear about on the news about every other week. Their response? Oh no, he?s just so in love with her and he doesn?t want her to get hurt by anyone (else, I suppose, is the word they forgot to tag on at the end here).

Jesus christ, Harry Potter was radical feminist manifesto compared to the shit that Twilight and this now a Fifty Shades of Grey* are teaching girls/women?

*Oooooh, is that a reference to moral ambiguity in a sexxxxxxay book? How subversive of them! Give them some po-mo cookies for that one stat!

Tell me, how much work does it take to be so classy? :D

I was born that way!

[small]Also a Google image search for "classy" brings up NSFW images on page 1. Just be warned.[/small]

On topic, the woman on this blog seems to be some manner of lunatic who has never done research on any subject. Ever.
